Not too bad....its when they focus up close to the presenters....you think...cor....he's a big bloke in the background there.....and what are all those people wandering around for on the left there?
It'd be OK if they kept the camera at that distance away from the presenters whilst they read the news out and then we wouldn't be SO up close to the newsroom right behind the presenters backs and be terrified of the giants in the background.
Is that newsroom actually behind their backs or is it added on later?

how many more times do you need to be told ... it IS a REAL newsroom
I think everyone is so used seeing the main news bullitens that it comes as a suprised when they see a news studio that has a real newsroom in the background.
There is indeed - there are clear and "strict" rules concerning the use of the BBC logo on the internal BBC website, though it seems that even the very same department that came up with the rules also break them frequently: take BBC Billboard advertising - where the BBC logo is shown rotated through 90 degrees on the far side of the poster...
If the mailbox had rotaed the |B|B|C| in a similar way it wouldn't have looked too bad IMO, but to keep the letters the right way up, but stack them one on top of the other seems very, very wrong!

What you see on the left is the main corridor down through the centre of the main newsroom/WM office. There are no restrictions on who can wander down it, I'm sure there can't be as it's in use by all staff at BBC Birmingham. To the left of what you can see of that corridor will be the public viewing area, which is yet to be finished properly.

It's the real newsroom all right - everything you see is as it really is, separated from the studio & set by a sheet of thick glass/perspex - heeps out the noise very well, the studio was quite 'dead' when we stood in there... The giant screens in the studio are back projection and the plasmas are... erm... plasmas. And it looks as impressive inside as it does on screen.
The autocue that was spotted in the office is by a row of 3 plasmas, by Shefali's desk as far as I could tell on Monday night. There's a camera there too, so I guess it's left in position should they need to talk to somebody 'in the newsroom'... which is only 6 feet away!!
Can't find the answer anywhere - but did we get to the bottom of why there is a still image of the control room behind the set, or is it just to make it look impressive when shooting from a newsroom angle?
