Arranged, you mean.
That music sounds awfully dated. You'd have thought there would have been a regional variation of the new ITV News theme

After a few days, im starting to like it now. For some reason it reminds me a little of the Carlton Era. The studio looks very warm and does look nice in some shots.
Less corporate ITV aswell, but channel orientated.

Well, it is very Carlton.
The titles are very "ITV Central Graphics Team" though, they move to sharply and fluidly.

I thought that aswell, but the Central Graphics Team ALWAYS uses a lense flare effect in their graphics, which I cannot spot in these.
And come to think of it, this reminds me of the final season of Central Soccer Night.

There is a lense flare. It's hard to spot it. Just at the bit where it says "Central Tonight" at the end. Before the LF Transition, it's there.

Grab me and put me in the stocks Michael W - that mishap was definitely worthy of its own post dedicated to it...

Anyone know to a strange smell in one of the BBC WM studios yesterday?
The Afternoon Show had to decamp to the Mailbox public space, leaving some soul braving the smell button pushing!
Mollie Green was covering for Danny Kelly yesterday, but whether Mollie was personally responsible for the smell, I don't know.
(I think Danny & 'Ginner', the producer were curry tasting on Thursday?)
So if anyone saw a strange woman in the public space yesterday between 2 & 4 yesterday, yep that's our Mol !

Apparantly the 'strange smell' was something to do with building works nearby, according to Saturday's Express & Star.
Spare a thought for Danny Scouser, as he & 'Ginner' have been trying to broadcast from the Brum wheel for the past 2 weeks but being thwarted by the weather.
They had rearranged for today instead, but this time a flat tyre on one of WM's radio cars scuppered things.
(Surely WM has more than one radio car, or are cutbacks that bad?)
They'll try again tomorrow.
Oh & Suzanne's back, as she's been ill recently.

This is conjecture rather than known fact, but my understanding is that generally stations seem to have one "proper" radio car, the one with the big telescopic mast using a UHF link, and a number of "reporter cars" using links of shorter range. The reporter cars have a very simple mixer in the glove box, like this: http://www.gemteksys.com/gloveb.jpg
The Radio Car is often a people carrier type vehicle with seats removed to make way for racks of equipment.
I believe the main difference is that the reporter car is more used for filing recordings back to base rather than on the spot live reporting (although in the right location this is certainly possible) so driving to higher ground where you can get a signal isn't too much of an issue.
Presumably PDAs with 3G are increasingly used for filing recorded material.
