Someone a bit eager with the optout button at the Mailbox tonight at 10?

They pressed it a good 30 secs early, cutting off Dimbleby & running the ident early, then having to freeze it at the end until they could cross to Huw in London.

I think the News started at 10.00:30 so they probably hadn't been paying attention!

This does seem to be happening more and more with the Ten. When Strictly was on Friday nights, the ten was on really late at an extremely odd time ISTR. Bearing in mind some (but not all) regions employ less-experienced directors on their late bulletins, mistakes are more likely to happen when the ident opt doesn't happen at the usual time.

The Six and One are almost always on bang on time, but it seems odd that the Ten is the one that gets shafted by Pres's obsession with not dropping trails in peak, yet is the one that's broadcast from the News Channel gallery. It causes no end of trouble for the news channel director to fill while BBC One catch up...

I should also add that regions don't generally have PAs at 2200 to pay attention to the opt timings!

nice to see that BRMB have brought back their old late show, the sanctuary ith caroline. who can forget the glory days of late and live with jeremy 'jezza' kyle and maurine 'i killed my great aunt' messant. i don't really get chance to listen to the station, but it seems to be sorting itself out!

stumbled across a nice clip on youtube (which someone's nabbed from tvark).

a young alistair yates in vision for a bbc midlands closedown consisting of:

regional news > what's on at the theatre guide (compiled by his good friend barney) > midlands clock > slides and music > god save the queen played over an aerial photo of pebble mill and the midlands ident > alistair points people towards patrick lunt on bbc local radio in the midlands (skip to 5 min if you want to avoid news and whats on)

and all these years later alistair is still on our tellys late at night!

Agreed, it's networked on all the Orion WM FM stations but mentioning place names BRMB was mentioned a couple of times which is a big no no for a network show, but that can't be helped as you can't control callers. The show was great first time around and one hopes they extend Caroline's contract and go against what the Birmingham Mail suggested.

can we start a new thread that's actually about Central West and BBC Midlands? Am fed up with all this radio chat (sorry, but unless you're in it, it's boring)

Sorry, go away and start your own thread on your own forum, Westy is part of the furniture.

God, not another moaning *******.

If you don't want to read, then **** off.

(I'm getting fed up of being all mellow & letting it all wash over me! Mad )

Some of us do want to read the posts!

Changing the subject, it's interesting that both Nick & Suzanne are off at the same time & we're getting some interesting pairings.

I know, not to sound awful, but it's nice to have some variation, as *fab* as Suzanne and Nick are, it's nice to have a change.

I do know there are some set changes coming in January, so keep 'em peeled. [on MT not CNW]
