Which one was that ? (I know to Chinnie's 3 hour Sunday show/30 years party at the Botanical Gardens, or the 2 hour 30 year party thing from Syphomy Hall !)
Mollie's back !! (It was 'twisted innards' apparantly!
)
Surprise appearance by Mr Wadsworth 'solo' on 95.6 Brekky this morning. (Not sure of Goldie's whereabouts, but he did make an appearance later in the show, after I switched off. )
Goldie will be live on Thursday morning from that street in Brum, where they are doing the 'Fat Nation' thing. (If you saw tonight's MT, 'Paddy', the health reporter showed us the street, pointing out the temporary studio that has been built.)
This week on MT, you can vote for your fav Midlands pop act.

BTW - do you have a copy of the BBC WM documentary they aired a few years back - I'd love to get hold of that.

My turn now.
First off, yours truly got a mention on Mollie's show this morning, re her day out metal detecting, when she found a oak tree, climbed up it & fell out.
My text response was something along the lines of 'We know you are out of your tree, but there's no need to prove it !'
Her response was
& 'Morning Westy' !
Franksy was live from Land Rover in Solihull today, with Tom Manners pushing buttons back at the Mailbox. (Old habits die hard though, when he refered to Pebble Mill by accident!)

Must be the Carl Chinn one - I recall there were lots of 70's Radio Birmingham clips in it!

anne came to open the mailbox today in her black and white chequered jacket - she had a chat with nick, suzanne (hence why shefali presented lunchtime), ed doolan and did the usual royal tour.
no doubt there will be clips at 6.30 - and you'll also get to see the new (empty) studio behind patrick burns in his report.

On tonight's (Thurs 9th Sept) 1830 Midlands Today, there was a report about the Princess Royal (Princess Ann(e)) officially opening the BBC's Mailbox premesis.
The package was topped-and-tailed by a live "outside" broadcast, with presenter Patrick Burns, from the BBC Mailbox premesis - the first ever live television broadcast from the site, said Patrick.
He mentioned that it was also Princess Ann(e) that opened Pebble Mill thirty-odd years ago, and that some aspects of BBC Birmingham (e.g. Radio WM) have already been in the Mailbox for "a couple of months".
He said that MT would be moving there "next month" (October).

patrick did say that, but its not *quite* true. but why should facts get in the way of a good story.
So what/when was the first live television broadcast from within the BBC Mailbox facility then?
Note the careful wording - broadcasts that were from, say, non-BBC parts of the building, or, say, weren't live, etc, don't count - Patrick's claim was quite specific, so I would've though it true.
So, please expand upon what you were saying - I'm curious now...

pictures have been routed through the mailbox from some locations on occasions.
but the first live broadcast from the mailbox was a couple of sundays ago(29th i think). with not being an early riser on a sunday i cant remember what programme it was for, but a live down the line interview - probably breakfast with frost or something.
