The NEW Central West and BBC Midlands thread

No Breakfast MT at 825am this morning, so we got BBC London instead & Vanessa Feltz (shudder), instead of Joanne Malin, promoting her show.

Anyone spot the lunchtime MT featuring Jo, Danny Scouser & Flupton doing the 'Malin' dance as a teaser for the next big event designed for us to part with our cash towards the WM Kidney Kids appeal?

(I cannot warm to Flupton at all. Maybe I'm fed up of him being at the forefront of everything the station does in public. Mind you Jo seems to be doing a bit more now, followed by Danny. Who remembers the days when you saw the presenters at the various local shows around the patch, even the less public profile ones? You even got Ben Turner at the one Wolverhampton show & he's really low profile, compared to the brekky presenter. Don't get me wrong I don't begrudge his charity work, but you'd think some of the other lesser presenters would take a turn occasionally,unless I haven't noticed?)

I'm surprised that no-one on this thread has mentioned the recent tv advert for the mobile phone operator Orange, relating to "Monkey", their new mobile tariff for Pay As You Go music lovers, as the advert features former ITV Central weather presenter Emma Jesson:

Nick Higham filing a report about a Stratford Upon Avon church that needs money to complete renovations due to the beam above Shakespeare's grave rotting away. Was this a national report repackaged for Midlands Today / vice versa? He certainly gave the standard outcue for Midlands Today.

Has he appeared before or was this a one off?

Keep an eye on tonight's MT, as hopefully you'll see the great & good of WM doing the 'Malin' dance, as devised by Jo herself, as performed in the Bull Ring today, as part of WM's Kidney Kids appeal.

Presenters known to be there, from what I heard today, apart from Jo, were Cayte Walker(roving reporter), Danny Kelly, the gorgeous Mollie Green(Danny's words, not mine, I hasten to add, you know my opinion of her at the moment!) & Franksy, who said Danny was the worst dancer!(Judge for yourselves).

Presumbly Flupton was there too.

Despite removing mentions of Flupton from the 'top of the hour' jingle, they've now inserted a 'Listen to Phil Upton' trail after every on the hour daytime bulletin.

Flicking around the regions this evening, I caught Steve Clamp presenting London Tonight at 10.25pm after doing Central Tonight at 6pm. I thought he'd left ITN for good for a staff job at Central? Is that right or is he freelancing at Central? I wouldn't have thought he'd be allowed to present London Tonight at ITN if he's staff with ITV at Central or is this not the case?

I'd love to see him presenting the ITV Morning News after being up nearly 24 hours. Maybe he's got some Pro Plus (or something stonger?) with him tonight.

So did he fly down the M1 or did Clampo do the LN from the other central studio ?

Lucy Meacock's done it too, hasn't she? It's all ITV news bulletins at the end of the day, so I can't see them being too picky about people NOT crossing from one place to another. Had it been an ITN produced bulletin for Channel 4, then maybe there'd be an issue, but not on the same channel, surely.

Happened to listen to Jo Malin this morning on WM

It appears that tomorrow's show has the Prince Of Darkness himself Ozzy being interviewed.

Let's hope Jo & WM prerecorded the interview or else there might be a few embarrassing moments on air.

Anyone know who the new presenter of Inside Out WM is, seeing the previous presenter is now at Her Majesty's Pleasure? (Wonder if he ended up at Winson Green, or has he gone further afield?)
