More new plasmas in BBC Midlands Today newsroom? They now have a black rim around them, similar to the Samsung flat screen range.

I keep missing MT so, any caps?

I see. Samsung by the looks of them (the bottom) and they have them on an angle so you can see them better through the window.

Issues at the Mailbox tonight? Network continued to play out after the opt-out, before abruptly cutting to Midlands Today half way through a report a few minutes later.

I checked BBC WM & they appeared to be alright(No evac!).

I guess 'Network Gold' is on tape/server?

Who does the new BBC WM jingle package?

(I gather the last one was Music4)

Im not too keen on the BBC Midlands news studio. Newsroom is nice, but the actual studio isn't. I hate how the sofa/desk is crammed in so close and on a nasty platform.

So the last full Central News East tonight: Steve Clamp announced he was off to ITV national news, and he curiously added that Bob Warman would be presenting the new Central News "for a while" with Sameena Ali-Khan-- retirement beckons for BW then? Louisa James confirmed she was to present the GMTV Central bulletins.

Intrigued to notice, besides doing her own WM show, Mollie Green was covering Annie Othen on C & W on Thursday & Friday(Caught a bit on iPlayer!).

Poor C & W listeners Laughing

Re the Central / GMTV bulletins, the blonde bird with the glasses looks pretty fit IMO, but can't take to the new weather bird though!

The last time I was up there and watched it, one of the things that really annoyed me was the fact that the studio is obviously by the exit and therefore you could see staff members leaving behind the studio, some putting on coats as they walked past. I know that BBC London have a similar issue, but at least they shoot it away from the exit.

The other thing that was really annoying was the 2-headed links, with one of the presenters doing the 'Newsreaders Triangle' while the other one spoke.... however that's buy no way unique to Midlands Today!

Indeed so. Wonder what his new role will be during the nationals then?!

Nothing much mentioned here in the West, although the new promo has started running this week (with Bob and Sameena over the road by the canal, which 'Desperate Dan' mentioned a few pages back)...

Think you're talking about Claire Lavender! She's taken to the GMTV slot pretty well over the last few months - although no one IMO can contend with the likes of Yvonne Gaskill; such a shame she left. Sad

I take it Claire will continue as a stand-in when Louisa is off?

Yep - is quite annoying. You also get the odd person glaring through the windows close to the exit during the lunchtime bulletins (as the area behind them is part of the 'Public Space') which is, quite distracting - especially when they keep pointing towards the studio area.

That sofa is a good 5 and a half years old.
The walls are 4 years old.

They are really stretching their budget.

Wonder which studio they will use for Central Tonight then from Monday? CNE's has a better screen, but is not West's holds the weather?

Will they dismantle the studio they do not use, because its pointless keeping it up and running for a 6 minute pre-record?

Just a few years after they spent months splitting it into 2 studios.

Bob and Sam work great together. You can see they get on, and she has settled in now.
