They can't seriously be thinking of Sameena for anchor?!?! Sad

Having Sameena & Bob would make sense though - the senior presenter from each sub-region together would mean that viewers in both East & West would see a familiar face on the 6:00 (although some in the East may have forgotten about Sameena with her being on maternity leave for some time Wink

They are indeed.

Sameena is awful at best. Says a lot about the quality thresholds they seem to have these days.

CNE used to have excellent presenters when it was actually presented from Nottingham since moving to Birmingham just seems to have a 'B' Team with ex sports presenter from the BBC and a reporter again from the BBC.

I'm sure she's a nice lady, but I don't think she has any charisma. She can't seem to lose the thousand-yard autocue stare somehow Confused

All of CNE's veteran presenters moved over to BBC East Midlands: Dominic Heale, Anne Davies (thankfully Wink ), Marie Ashby and Natalie Jackson-- as well as a number of reporters.

CNE still has Dennis Coath, who has been with Central since 1982 (excluding a short sabbatical a few years ago). He is sport for Central East now, after David Chisnall migrated to Setanta.

is arati still on central and if so do we still have a zero tolerance anti-arati stance?

Is Clampy still at CNE?

It was interesting to note at the time that CNE were using presenters familar to West Midlands viewers & listeners, as Sameena did do a odd bit of work at BBC WM as well as MT!

And talking of WM, my final update until further notice, due to technical issues at home(I'm having to use my brother's set up for this session!).

Last Friday was 'Beat the Credit Crunch' day on WM, with the breakfast / daytime shows concentrating on this, with the Mailbox Public Space pressed into service as a 'Swap Shop', complete with Flupton interviewing a naked (we wish!) Maggie Philbin over the phone.(She had been in the shower when they rang!)

(Mags did mention briefly her 20 something year old daughter, which I assume she had with Cheggers. Wonder if said daughter keeps in touch with Aunty Janice?(assuming certain people are still on speaking terms of course. There was certainly no reference to 'Aunty Janice' during the Flupton interview!))

I did have Friday off but the thought of seeing Flupton & his ego
around the place did turn me off going over there, so I only went as far as 'Nostagia & Comics' on the Smallbrook Queensway!

Also, due to popular demand, there will be limited late evening broadcasting from the Mailbox coming back before the end of the month.

Firstly 'BBC WM Introducing ' (what exactly, is my response!) moves to Thursdays 10pm & secondly, 'Network Gold' gets its first transmission on Fridays at 10pm, with Saturday, where possible, being the repeat transmision!

TTFN for now.

Just heard from a reliable source that Joanne Malin is to leave Central Tonight.
is that the same reliable source that told the express and star that printed the story in their city final that i read before 6pm?

My reliable source revealed it before then, but he used to work for ITV Central... can't speak for RDJ though.

Sorry I misread the dates on the posts!

Yeah Steve Clamp is still with CNE, the main male presenter (although he was on holiday last week, in case you were wondering!). I'm guessing he'll present the CNE pre-record in the 'new' programme?

Sameena AK is on maternity at the moment, with Louisa James filling in-- although Lucy Kite is far better at the job than either of those two in my view. I think Lucy has more verve about her; she presents rather than just reads, if you catch my drift-- more engaging.

I think Sameena did do a few stints on BBC East Midlands today, presenting lunchtime bulletins. As far I as I know, Steve has just done BBC Midlands?

Sameena Ali Kahn did BBC Midlands too. I think.

Yes, I remember Sameena presenting the BBC Midlands (West) News at weekends.
