Hmm

Has Liz Copper moved to N24, as she was spotted reporting from Leicester yesterday or the day before?

Hazel Westwood makes a cameo appearence at Birmingham New Street on tonight's MT.
(Where does she actually work normally?)

Ashley Blake spotted on a weather related report. (asks big sister, 'do you reckon he wants to borrow a tenner?' Laughing )

Mollie has returned from her 2 week break. (God help us all! Rolling Eyes )

i see they're using the shot of centenery square which ironically gives a nice view of the demolition of the old central studios.

Can you actually see the demolition though? i.e. Is the Centenary Square view actually live (or "almost-live" delayed transmission, etc)?

I had assumed that it was pre-recorded (i.e. recorded "once ever" at different times of day and night, and those same recordings used long-term), as I understand is/was the case for many ITVplc regions' backdrops.

I've not seen CN for ages. If the view is pre-recorded, then the old Central building must still look untouched! Laughing If the view is live (or almost), then is the demolition actually particularly noticable, as it's in the far left of the shot?

The view has been used for a couple of weeks now mainly on the late bulletins, it's obviously recorded because the sky is still a bit bright! Laughing

You can't really see how the demolition is progressing though, although the only main thing you can notice is how the old entrance is now covered up by scaffolding (white sheeting). Maybe if the camera would have been pointed more towards the Alpha Tower then you'd be able to see that the old canteen is exposed now and has no roof.

Disasterous Central Tonight it was just now, and it can all be blamed on the Weather.

First of all Bob Hall was live at Chasetown with the FA Cup infront of him and a big gust of wind blew the Boom Mic over and knocked the FA Cup right off its stand. A swarm of Security men ran to save it but it did look a bit dirty afterwards! Laughing

And then Emma was live outside with the Weather and had Umbrella trouble and and to battle with it through the forecast.

Makes it a bit more Watchable than usual then. Wink

Central News East has been moved to the temporary studio/conference room to make way for a new programme starting on Monday night/Tuesday morning on itv1. Steve Scott hosts from the Central News East studio (plasmas and set are the same - but "subtle" lighting changes so you can't guess it's a regional news studio!!!)
The links Steve presents are all pre-recorded (about a fortnight in advance).

When is this due to start? And is it news related?

Just a promo for it on Central Tonight (West), the studio was a dark green colour with Steve Scott standing where the desk usually is.

Not so much amateur hour but amateur five minutes on CNW.
I wonder why it is, when they know the weather is forecast to worsen they persist with an OB when they could move somewhere else. CN seem to be guilty of this more often of this as they feature on tv blooper shows a lot more than other regions in my view.

i have done a bit of googling, however i can't find the article on the evening mail's site...

central tv's llewela bailey was on the front page of saturday's paper - she was sued by estate agents for not paying the full fee after she says they made an error when listing the price of the house. the article went on to explain that she was selling the house due to the rather unfortunate time llew has been having since her husband passed away with cancer.

he was in financial difficulty shortly before being diagnosed, and when he'd passed away she was faced with £100,000+ of debt.

truly awful circumstances.

TV's Owen aims to pay Luton's Cup heroes their dues

The Guardian

Luton Town appeared to be edging closer to financial salvation last night after a number of bids, including one from an Anglo-American consortium fronted by the television presenter Nick Owen, were received by administrators seeking to secure the club's long-term future.

The administrator Brendan Guilfoyle, who had set a deadline of 5pm last night for interested parties to formalise their offers, will spend the next few days scrutinising bids from up to four prospective purchasers before announcing which will be granted an exclusivity period as the preferred bidder. There is quiet confidence among the club's fans that the group backed by the three principal supporters' groups, including the supporters' trust, will be given the green light to take over the debt-ridden League One side.

A mood of optimism suddenly envelopes the club, not least as a result of Sunday's magnificent performance against Liverpool which earned Luton a lucrative televised replay at Anfield next Tuesday and, potentially, up to £500,000 of revenue. "There will be a future for Luton Town," stressed Gary Sweet, the bid manager for the Anglo-American consortium which is made up of Hatters' fans. "We have entered our bid, which is first-rate. We will see how it now progresses."
Owen, once of breakfast television and currently a presenter for the BBC in Birmingham, has been a fan for 50 years and is the president of the Luton Town Supporters' Association. He has been earmarked to become chairman of the club should that bid succeed. "The supporters' groups have seen the books and we are confident it is manageable," said Liam Day, chairman of Trust in Luton.

The pain is likely to be maintained until a bid is accepted, however, with key members of the side that frustrated Liverpool likely to be sold to cover costs in the interim. The players have not been paid fully since October 27 and the midfielder Darren Currie is on the verge of rejoining Brighton, David Edwards has already attracted a £170,000 bid from Nottingham Forest and Chris Coyne is close to a £350,000 move to Colchester United.

The playing staff will meet the administrator this morning to ascertain how much of the money owed to them will be forthcoming. "There's honour in pulling on the shirt," said Coyne. "But in the back of your mind there's someone saying bills need paying, you have got to look after your family. We have to be realistic and realise people might have to go to balance the books and, effectively, save the club."

Would that mean a reduced role for Mr Owen on our screens?
I heard whispers of possible reduced duties in the next few years for him.
