No mention as such, but a very wide, wide shot! The Sport came from the balcony tonight too.

Slight change on BBC WM this afternoon, due to the England footy match.

There was coverage of Walsall v Port Vale live from the Bank's (Some of us still want to call it the Bescot!) Stadium from 12 till 3 (Score nil nil!), with 'me Daz Hale, the Wolves fan. (Normally it's 'Phil Upton on Saturday 12 till 2, with sport from 2)

As there wasn't any other(certainly no Premiership) matches, from 3 to 6, Dan Wheeler took over from the Mailbox with a general mix of other sport(ie cricket!) & music, plus some 'reaction to the action' from the match.

Midlands Today was presented from the normal set for Breakfast but for Lunchtime bulletin they've managed to move to the Politics Show set so they can start on the revamp of the current set!
Will there be any chance of a few pics of the work that's been done and how it's progressing at all? Smile
Here are a few caps from the lunchtime bulletin:

now if ever there was to be a tvforum midlands thread outing it would have to be to this year's solihull festival, where midlands at westminster and tvforum icon patrick burns is the star guest ... oh and there are a few other telly people too

i'll be the one at the front asking patrick if the green chairs on midlands at westminster were real or faux leather

What a bunch! Laughing Mind you Les can talk about his train, I suppose.

On the subject of the graphics, the yellow LIVE set they use have always been crap!

I would've prefered MT to use a version of the national graphics, like I've seen EMT & Spotlight use, when I've seen them in the past!

Today's Breakfast MT presenter was the lovely Tidders, Joanna Tidman, formerly of WM & the Green/France/Tidman lunch club, as previously mentioned by Mollie on air!

Anyone hear the 'drunk' listener, 'Shaun from Highgate' about 610am this morning? ('What did you do yesterday? Can't remember!)

(I was the anonymous text telling Mollie she attracted nutters, by the way!)

Unless I was half asleep this morning, a new version of the trail aired this morning during Mollie's show, omitting mention of Pat Burns. How come he's pulled out then?

On the subject of the Green, I gather there is a rule stopping liquids being drunk in the studio, which didn't stop Mollie spilling hot coffee over her hand, while a tune was playing.

There's at least one Rolling Eyes moment per show!

So how come the Mailbox got two studios (although I guess probably only one gallery?) when the other new regional centres such as Nottingham, Leeds and Hull only got one?

It's not really a classed as a studio I don't think. All they do when the Politics Show is presented there is pretty much what they've done now with Midlands Today just put a few 'Politics Show' banners on each side(although there aren't any Midlands Today banners there but a plasma instead! Laughing).
Yes there is only one gallery.

Hmmm, the Politics Show "studio" isn't really a "studio" as such . . .

More like a bit of laminate flooring set aside at the back of the office space. The camera points on that set all just feed back to the MT gallery.

There's also a remote-controlled camera on the edge of the Politics Show set, frequently used by News 24 as their Birmingham feed.

Indeed. And bloody gloomy it looks too. That's a standard News24 Camera set up - each one had the same facilities and camera and were put in to regional centres when News 24 launched. The original ones (like this) are getting rather long in the tooth now. The cameras were cheapish ones and are not 16:9 switchable, so even though all English regions have now made the leap to widescreen, some big centres' newsroom cameras still have to be ARCd.

The evening and late bulletins looked lovely with the evening sunshine in the background - gave the programme a very warm feel to it! Very Happy

It certainly did! I wish they'd present a bit more from there and a bit more outside like by the canal or balcony. Cool

The original view from there used to be quite good. However now they've started construction on the new "Cube" development, it looks a bit shoddy.

The late bulletin with the bar's and restaurant's lights in the background was nice though.
