Bit odd on tonights late Central bulletin. The background was still the daytime one!! Confused

You're telling me that those backdrops aren't live? Wink You would have thought somebody would have noticed that the backdrop needed changing though Laughing

I know! Laughing They never seem to be live but I don't know why they just can't use the live feed rather than a recorded one! Confused Laughing

The CNE one of Trent Bridge certainly isn't live; you can almost set your watch by the seagull flying across the screen about halfway through CNE at 6 programme Laughing

I'm wondering which timezone or planet for that matter CNE are on. Sameena was suggesting to the viewers to look out for the Perseid Meteor shower tonight.
That passed us yesterday.

Her joke about topping up her tan over the weekend seemed a bit odd for her too.

I often wonder that too!

The Perseids can be seen over a few nights in mid-August I believe. It was visible last night, but the shower wasn't as intense as Sunday and Saturday nights' showers from what I gather.

Sameena is a competent newsreader in my view, but I can never warm to her as a person-- to me she doesn't have character/charisma.

Hmm Mr Owen on his 3rd week off.

I assume it's just a holiday & no medical issues like last time!

And talking of medical issues, anyone see Doolan & his operation scar?

They could've apologised in case people were still eating their tea! Smile

WM's got the old HP sign then, I gather.

The WM Phil Upton promo made a reappearence last night too.

Makes a change from bloody Radio Stoke!

It's about time there was telly promos for Mollie, Danny, Les, Franksy & Les IMO

Mr Owen deserves a good holiday though, he is very rarely off and its usualy Suzanne who they need cover for. Can I ask what was up with him last time he was off for medical reasons then, nothing too serious I hope.

Regarding Doolan, he didnt look too good atall. Hope he makes a full recovery.

Nick's health scare was the cancer scare from a few years back.(Check out 'In The Time Of Nick' for more info!)

Regarding 'Uncle Ed', much as I hate to say this, it is time for him reduce his responsibilites further.

A less stressful weekend show, or purely concentrating on 'The Other Side Of' maybe, instead of the 5 days a week schedule he's currently on.

One thing he could do is, as one of Wm's longest serving presenters, is start to prepare for Wm's 40th birthday in November 2010. (Correct me if I'm wrong Tvm, but doesn't Ed keep an archive at home of his various programmes?)

He's back on Monday at 10am, by the way & what's the betting most of the phone calls will be enquiring after his health!

Perhaps Ed could be the 'new' Mike Dickin? (Is his health in question?)

Is Gaunt still 'friendly' with anyone at BBC Brum by the way?

Istr Mollie saying she missed him after offering one of his photos as a competition prize & yours truly making the observation that said picture would make a good dartboard!

On the point about the camera feeds. Not sure whether we have a live image in the North-West or not, but I have certainly seen a giant spider web being woven during the course of a bulletin and I seem to remember a giant pigeon too! Maybe it's not live to avoid that kind of thing, though it is quite amusing!

Great stuff! They do have live camera feeds on ITV Local for some curious reason, just in case you want to check that the tower blocks of Birmingham haven't destroyed by alien invaders perhaps.
