From a radio presenter's point of view, this sounds awful. I can't imagine anything worse than trying to concentrate on your show only to be put off by hoardes of gibbers peering in at you as if you're a fish in a bowl.

PS. I still love you Pootle!

Put A Lot of Effort In? This thread has just become about BBC WM. This is a TV Forum not a Radio Forum. Someone only requests about Central News, and gets slagged off, by a person who doesnt even belong to the Midlands.

Westy is a TV Forum legend. His WM updates have been a part of TV Forum for as long as I can remember – and I for one find his posts very interesting.

Well said Salty! And it wasn't a 'slagging off' ,as you worded it, I was just saying about some people are probably quite upset and annoyed about it so 'tread' carefully~ I wouldn't call that a 'slagging'!

As for my username(!!) and saying I dont belong here i.e allowed to post and discuss about Regional Midlands Television please can you PM me to discuss this matter further...I hope to hear from you soon...

I think that people will be able to peer into the Archers studio too, they will have some sort of interactive thing to communicate with the studio - apparently the other day some obsessed fan stood for 4 hours peering into one of the radio studios! It would be off putting yes!

Love you too Spencer Smile

No, how long have you been here? Westy's WM posts have always appeared in the Midlands Today and Central News thread, long may it continue. Now go and find some other minor detail to moan about.

You cant read this thread without them. Shall we let this argument rest, and let you get on with your perfectic life? I must have been mad joining this forum with a load of ****rs

I don't live in the Midlands and have never, ever listened to WM, but I still thoroughly enjoy Westy's posts about Mollie Green's latest antics and all the other comings and goings. Along with tvmercia's Kay Alexander updates, they have made this thread and its predecessor essential reading for many non-Midlanders.

If you're not interested in them, fine, but why kick up such a fuss about it?

I'm sure it's not *that* hard to ignore the posts in question.

Don't bother then, and don't start petty little arguments just because you don't like certain posts, which everyone else enjoys. If you don't like it, why are you still here? Please don't ruin this thread!

Getting back on topic, having visited the BBC at the Mailbox, it must be a big distraction having members of the public watching you like a goldfish, but i very much doubt the majority of programming will come from these studios. It's not very practical.

Yes, notice its always "BBC" the one everyone loves. You pay over a hundred pounds a year into, and what do you get, a load of crap. And why kick up a fuss? Well when someone gets slagged off for askin gabout Central news, it begins to wonder why the thread has Central in it at all. Its either BBC or nothing.

Bu, sorry I do realise the suggnificance of this thread to your life! You have to start to worry when someone is worried about ruining of a thread! Thats perfectic!

Oh dear.

So someone finds my posts boring then ?

I could be incredibly childish & say 'Tough s**t & 'F*** R**** O**', but that would be dropping down to their level !

The main reason I give updates on BBC WM, is that WM & Midlands Today are histolically linked IMO, because they have come from the same studios, & occasionally MT people appear on WM, & vice versa. (Paul Franks' occasional appearences, when they 'throw' to him, for occasional comment on a story!)

Currently MT's Satnam Rama co-presents 'Midlands Masala' on Fridays, for example.

Now for another 'boring' post !

On Wednesday, WM spent the day at the Bull Ring, in Brum, to celabrate it's first birthday.

Currently listening to Jimmy Franks, who, as speculated by yours truly, is doing a special on Carl Wayne, who died earlier this week.

Tomorrow, the Wolverhampton City Marathon is on, & WM is appearing.
(I suspect there will a brief insert into Doolan's show at least. Is there any coverage separatley on DAB in Wolverhampton BTW?)

There is a WM team entering, plus Danny Kelly & Cayte Walker are looking after the stage at West Park, plus 'Wonder Moose' is appearing too!

Here's a question, I cover BBC WM, because it's part of the Beeb.

Should local commercial radio be covered similary, even though ITV (television) & ILR(radio) are separate enterties? (I know that's a matter of opinion thesedays!)

Should I force myself, for example, to cover 'Beacon FM' (over my dead body!!), or 'The Wolf' ?

Personally I think not, as one music station can be similar to another, however, pre 1997, I would've considered Beacon/WABC's 'Ian Perry Phone Show' for inclusion, as that was mostly speech based, like BBC Local Radio is!

Does other BBC regions, which have a 'pet' radio station, for example BBC South & BBC Radio Solent, have a similar on/off air relationship, like BBC MT & BBC WM?

Talk about whatever you like - I find your radio posts fascinating!

BTW - do you have a copy of the BBC WM documentary they aired a few years back - I'd love to get hold of that.
