very handy westy
the one thing that you can be sure about the wm listeners is that they don't like change. although i liked DK i think les is perfect for afternoons.
when you look at the schedule now and compare it to the dark days of the merger with CWR, things haven't half improved. i remember the schedule had some real weak spots - but now its littered with big (local) names. shame none of the listeners seem to have recognised how the de-merger with CWR has improved things significantly, i always thought WM should have trumpeted it at the time.
i do think goldie was a great asset, would be great to see him re appear in some capacity.

Well I think there were autocure problems with tonights Central News bulletin (simulcasted on West & East) with Llewella having to look at her script quite a lot!
Here is the link to the bulletin on ITV Local, it will play after 3 very annoying 10 second adverts!

Quite amusing that when Llewella is talking about the murders a VT of Tesco airs!

Doubt it - most (all?) of the regional weather presenters do forecasts on BBC local radio stations in their patch so delivering the forecast with no graphics isn't too much of a challenge. Paul Hudson has had to do this several times.

No other region could do this IMO. Theyd all panic.

I felt sorry for LB tonight, but I thought she handled it quite well. It can't be easy trying to read from a script without looking down too much and having a director talking away in your ear at the same time

But on radio they have scripts to prompt them, on TV they use the graphics to prompt them.

But they still have their output screen so can see the finished article.

I'm not sure what you mean? A field monitor?
All presenters have on an OB is themselves and a camera!
No script, no visible graphics. On MT, the graphics are played out and animated from back at the gallery whilst the presenter talks about them on location.
No autocue, no output field monitor, nada.

That as may be on Points West, but on BBC Midlands the output monitor only shows the camera output , not WeatherscapeXT or Pinnacle studio.
I remember because I went to children in need at the Mailbox and the monitor when shef did the weather it just showed her no graphics.
