Personally I'd have Radio Shropshire's early boy Ian Perry, as he used to do an excellent phone in on Beacon up until 10 & half years ago!
(Didn't Liz Cave used to work at Beacon years ago, along with 'Linseed Oil', from Midlands Today?)

"Good evening culture lovers.." Ahh - the memories of the midnight line..

Liz and Lindsay used to be at Beacon circa 1988..

I thought it was 'Okey dokey my old culture lovers, lovers of culture everywhere', & also mentioning the 'Under the duvet' brigade as well.
(I used to have a small collection of 'Midnight Lines' until a couple of years ago on tape, until they were disposed of, for space reasons. A old CB buddy had them off me, & passed onto his son, who lives somewhere in Dudley!)

From what I've heard of his Shropshire show, it's a shame he doesn't have any interactivity. I'd would've texted in myself as a fan from the old days too!
(Mind you I wouldn't abandon Mollie full time though, but she does do your head in sometimes though!)

Does Ian 'help out' on the Shropshire breakfast show as well?

It is often mentioned in the Yorks & Lincs thread, that Dickie Bird is often wheeled out by the various Look Norths/Calendars when it's a slow news day, like some sort of a "rent-a-Yorkshireman" (to quote another TVF post-er's description of Dickie).

Well... I caught about ten seconds of Midlands Today t'other evening, and noticed Jasper Carrot being "interviewed" (translation: casual chit-chat) about whatever, by Nick Owen. I'm sure I've seen Jasper on MT in this sort of way, periodically on several previous occasions in very recent years.

Is Jasper starting to become the (west) midlands' equivalent of Dickie Bird, or what??? (i.e. a default guest for slow news days / a "rent-a-Brummie")???

Crikey, I remember it well.

Viewtel 202 spawned Viewfax 258, which included an area initially called Radio Ga Ga and later Waveguide.

No, it'll never last!

Congratualtions to Nick and Suzanne who are now the BBC's Best Regional News presenting team! Its a tribute, and one they all deserve. Im sure we all know how much effort they put into the show, unlike other regions which seem to be lacking in resources too.

Bore? Amusing, arty, running joke more like. Strong words, strongs. I mean that is just not good enough is it? How do you think viewers in King's Lynn feel? Are we going to get an apology?

Thanks for being there tvamerica Wink
