Sorry but you can't beat Midlands Today ....

I'm sorry - but you can. North West Tonight (my region Very Happy ) is much better. I've watched Midlands Today when I've been in Birmingham and aswell as the disgusting graphics with that yellow they have on Midlands Today, Gordon Burns is a much better presenter.

Gordon Burns falls apart when he moves.

East Midlands Today is also excellent with Anne Davies.

Shocked No, just no Mad I (and many others) find Anne Davies to be highly annoying.

EMT with Dominic Heale, Quentin Rayner, Marie Ashby, Kathy Rochford, Mel Coles or Colin Hazelden is excellent-- but not Anne Davies. Sorry!

oh dear - they used the shoddy titles again today - however they're still using the old closing music.

how queer

TVM, or anyone else from BBC Birmingham, if they are looking in, I saw one of WM's vans coming out of Somerfield in Willenhall tonight, about 530.

I don't think it was a radio car, because they have a massive aerial on top, don't they, & this didn't.

I think it was similar to a Vauxhall Chevette, with the rear side windows painted out, & it was all in red, with the station logo on the side.

What do they use that for?

I can't speak for WM, but generally speaking each BBC LR station has a number of smaller vehicles for reporters to go out in to gather the news (and possibly gather the shopping in this case).

They'd have to be desperate to shop at Somerfield Willenhall, when there's probably better shops near to both the Mailbox & the Wolverhampton premises.

That store hasn't got the range compared to the likes of Sainsbury's in Walsall IMO!

(I'm not just saying this 'cos I work for Spar either!)

What a muddle for the 1520 update. Normal opening titles, and then used national opening titles to close. Rolling Eyes

Is this a joke? Why is the fact Simon Cowell apeard on a SKY remake of sale of the century the top story on Central Tonight?
Im not saying they were wrong to broacast it but its not the top story. And if they wont to show embarrsing game show remake's why not Bob on The Price is Right.

Well Central News East was down at White Post Farm today, with Charlie Neil doing the weather forecast live whilst holding a large rabbit-- as you do.

However they had Llewella Bailey back at the studio, and even CNE managed a serious top story (death of a Leicestershire soldier in Iraq)

they used the 'old' music on this evening's midlands today, rather than the national news music.

perhaps they've only added the national music to the short version of the titles with the "news update" end board (originally created for the one show 7.35 bulletin), which is currently used for the 10.35 standy-up bulletin.

its all a bit of a mess. surely its a case of when and not if someone realises that if they want to use the national music, they need to invest time in re-cutting the visuals - or more sensibly they could revert to using the perfectly usable 'old' music. or as mentioned before - there are several versions of the LDN music floating about which would avoid the stupidity of the regional news having exactly the same music as the national.
