At this juncture I would like, once again, to express my annoyance over how self righteous and sickly Central News is. By all means be proud of your heritage but they just go too far. You have about 2 minutes of news and the rest is about how they present that 2 minutes of news.

I Second that, and all itv regional news are very original With the whole corporate look. And there up there own a**es

What a load of cobblers. Central News/Midlands Today have about the same amount of fluff and when big news happens Central is always one step ahead IMHO.

Although that Lucy "more cheese Gromit" Gribbler report tonight at some snowdome was cringefactor 10, no worse than Nick O's cheesy smile *reads off autocue: and turn, and smile, look back at camera*.

*Waves placard for Central*

big news day in the mids with the suspect package in the ICC, closing broad street for the afternoon and evening. central had the upper hand as they could broadcast from their roof - where as bbc mids had to make do with a couple of pre-recs from the roof of the conservatoire or the central library. would have been interesting had central been evacuated - no central east to cut to - nor central south ...

have brmb been evacuated?

and of course they went big on the snow - never seen the map like this before:

Apparantley the BBC WM breakfast team plus Mollie are supposed to be stopping in a Brum hotel overnight(Mal Maison?), so they'll be in tomorrow. (Did I hear progs will kick off at 4am tomorrow so they can do the snowline prog?)

Talking of the delightful Miss Green, I've just found her show is now on 'Listen Again' Very Happy I was looking for Franksy's show & found it by accident. (I'm listening to today's show as I missed most of it!)

Jimmy Franks was doing a double shift today, sitting in for Danny Kelly, while Dan did a 'job swap' as a bingo caller, of which you'll be able to hear more on Friday's show, as well as the Late show.

This was according to Mollie though, & you know what she's like!

She was on about a pizza party with Jane & that Margerine woman who reads the news!

Listened to your Jimmy Franks clip by the way.

Hilarious Laughing

Is it me or isn't Paul Franks not on 'Listen Again'?

Phil & Ed are on & they're just as current shows as Franksy's!

Does anyone know anything about a Midlands Today musical? I only ask cos I was listening to good old Radio Shropshire for old times sake and a caller phoned in and asked the DJ whether he was going to be in it. It all sounded rather strange to me till I did some googling on it and I saw this quote on the MT wikipedia entry -

Quote:

In autumn 2008, coinciding with the annual Children in Need appeal, Midlands Today the Musical is set to make its stage debut in theatres across the region. Sources close to the BBC claim the show celebrates four decades of dramatic change in the Midlands through music and dance. From the Handsworth Riots to Aston Villa winning the European Cup, the faces that brought you the news and a host of stars will celebrate our shared history. Former presenter Alan Towers is widely tipped to take a leading role in the production alongside Warwickshire reporter Joan Cummins, popular Midlands at Westminster veteran Patrick Burns and afternoon bulletin signist for the deaf Peter Sylvian. Actress Nerys Hughes is rumoured to have been offered the part of Kathy Rochford and Letitia Dean the part of Julie Etchingham.

It all sounds rather exciting, but it does ask the question whether Kay will appear in it or will she be played by an actress?

My mate said that Birmingham have been bumped up the priorities list for Vizrt so they can adapt Kay's system into a karaoke style graphics system for the musical. It's clearly a much bigger deal than is being suggested in a lot of outlets.
