Am I the only one that waves the Central News flag? Bob Warman holds much more weight than Nick *look at co-presenter when name mentioned and grin like a banchy* Owen and his giggling co-presenter?

I love Jo Malin's crapness and the fact that she can't read a sentence without fluffing the lines. Their sport presenters kick the ass of Midlands Today's (which isn't difficult lets face it) and just more natural banter.

That's my two penneth for another two years.

If I was to add up every edition of MT or CNW I have ever watched, CNW would come out top.

Bob rocks. He makes a bus strike in West Bromwich sound exciting.

In an attempt to get back on topic(fingers crossed!), tonight's MT majored on the Birmingham terrorism / foiled kidnap saga.

Besides the usual reports & OB's relating to the story, Nick & Suzanne also spoke live to the Asian Network's Adil Ray, who was doing his drivetime show live from the downstairs radio studio(TVM - I am right Asian Drivetime comes from Brum, because I know Asian Brekky comes from there, because they used to be noisy during Mollie's show!)

Otherwise, Doolan was off sick today, being replaced by Richard Wilford.

Had to laugh at Mollie this morning, as she told us listeners as she drove home yesterday, she passed a bus & the lads on the back seat dropped their trousers & mooned at her! It improved her mood no end apparantley Smile

Mollie's probably brought 'something' in again.

She does love rescuing animals, she does!

Completly agree - Central News has IMO always been miles ahead of Midlands Today, and I don't rate Nick (and Anne) Owen as a newsreader at all. Midlands Today just seems amatuerish in comparison!

(And it's nothing to do with it being on the BBC - the situation is reversed in Granadaland, while in Wales I'd declare it a draw!)

The woman that presented today's 11:10am Central News (West) is surely a hot contender for the title of: " Most Annoying Voice/Way-of-speaking, On Current UK Television ", IMHO. Her name's Lucy Kapasi (sp?) or something.

Even the nasal voice of fellow CNwest presenter Arti Halai (sp?) isn't that annoying.

If you've never heard Lucy, just think of the way that Trevor McDonald speaks nowadays (i.e. emphasising seemingly random choices of syllable, and often saying things in a far more dramatic way than the material deserves), but even worse. And more "shouty".

Even something like "And now, here's the weather" is said like the end of world is nigh, by her. How did someone with such a bizarre verbal style ever get to report/present? Rolling Eyes

Aye I agree, even the most serious of reports are presented with that high pitched this is a really happy story really feel.

She also can be likened to Wallace's (Wallace & Gromitt) girlfriend Wendowlene - it's uncanny!

Shocked you're not in the toilets of the gale now mr lester, this thread is about wholesome family friendly debate, not gutter talk!

i don't think this thread is institutionally biased against central, i just rarely watch it so have little to post about it. but i can say i think their coverage of the terror arrests beat bbc mid's. i don't think we've seen bob's legs for years - you always know its a big story when bob's legs come out.

i happened to have beacon radio on in the car - and they were plugging ...

ENTERTAINMENT: Haunted Homes
On: ITV2
Date: Friday 2nd February 2007 (starting in 3 hours and 24 minutes)
Time: 22:30 to 23:30 (1 hour long)

Beacon Radio.
The paranormal detectives are back to help more families living in haunted homes. Mia Dolan, Mark Webb and Dr Chris French come to the aid of the workers at Beacon Radio in Wolverhampton. They work on the site of an old orphanage and constantly see the ghosts of playing children and a dark disturbing figure. Could this be the ghost of Frederick, a man wrongly accused of a crime against a missing child?
(Stereo, New Series, Exclusive to ITV2, Widescreen)
