full marks to central news yesterday for reacting to the saddam execution with an as-live studio interview. often attempts at trying to find a regional slant on a global story come across contrived, but it worked well.

with it being central's 25th birthday tomorrow - something tells me there maybe a little mention of it on tonight's bulletin Wink

I saw a clip from Midlands Today (the first show from the Mailbox) today, and just wondering why they dont feature the Mailbox in their titles anymore. I remember they had several versions of the titles, and used them with different clips, Coventry, Birmingham, Bullring, and generic region clips, but now they use the same version all the time. Isnt it time for a tweak to the titles again, just to keep the best BBC Regional programme fresh?

Well unless I find something better to listen / watch, it looks like seeing the New Year in with Nick Piercey on WM!

He's not that bad really, but it comes to something when New Year telly's ****, you turn to your local BBC radio station to be entertained
!

Normally they would've got Keith Middleton in for the new year show, but seeing it's techinically a Sunday, Keithy's doing his usual 'Late Show' on Shropshire/Stoke/H & W !

Apparantly, according to a comment on the Les Ross show this morning, Plattie had a rare sickie from Network Gold, being subbed by Piercey.

Les was mentioning his infamous train parked in Tyseley train depot as well! It is also a year since his civil partnership as well!(Please note I only mention stuff that's already been mentioned on air, but I never knew until last year until that a**ehole Gaunt mentioned it on air himself, as I never listened to Les until he came back to WM!)

(I must admit I've been looking for 'The Clash Of The Titans' repeat on Talk sport, to hear exactly what Gaunt said about Galloway, that caused Galloway to respond in kind on his live show about Gaunt allegdelly banning him from 'Titans' in the first place!)

Happy New Year all at BBC Brum, even if Mollie's not back until next week! Sad

the clips of coventry's millennium arch took centre stage in the titles when bbc cwr went back on air - to mark the bbc's move back to coventry.

for those of you who missed this evening's (and indeed the final edition of the year) central news, take a look at

nice to see that not everyone at itv has forgotten the past Smile

having emma jesson in the studio to talk about the bad weather and a full sports round up put bbc mids to shame really

I put on my video of Mike Prince and Shaw Taylor from exactly 25 years ago tonight and cried into my ATV tattoo.

(some of the above may not be true)

In the clip Chris James reported that in the 90's Central made the majority of programmes for the network...it's a very sad thing that on Central's 25th Anniversary all it makes now is Central Tonight and maybe a few low budget regional progammes.

Central is not even a shadow of its former self! I personally don't think there will be a Central come 5 years time at all!!!!
