I wish I'd seen that. Does the new trailer feature any old title sequences like the previous 'new look' trailers, or is it a totally new one?

nah, the trailer features midlanders telling nick, suzanne and shefali "what does midlands today reeeeallllly mean to you" in the mailbox. the music is the theme tune off the smoking room on bbc 3. quite fab - definitely has a pebble mill cheeseyness about it Laughing

as long as gabe carries on making his fab promos at bbc mids we will be ok, lol.

Many months ago, I imagined (or possibly hoped) that Pebble Mill would get a decent NATIONAL send-off.

Something like a "Best of Pebble Mill at One " higlights show (e.g. 12:30-13:00, BBC One, daily for the final five weekdays). Or something.

That one 30-minute programme a couple of months back (with Toyah Wilcox), on a Sunday lunchtime, didn't do the Mill justice. One single half-hour didn't allow the the retrospective to be very detailed.

It was all too "whirlwind", and a very forgettable programme.

Obviously, the Mill will get a decent send-off WITHIN the MIDLANDS region (especially on the final Friday 18:30 MT, and the final Sunday teatime MT). But, a better NATIONAL send-off than the Toyah Wilcox programme should have happened.

Great news for those non-Midlanders amongst us who have enjoyed Westy's WM updates...

...WM is finally streaming:

well this is THE best news anyone will hear this year! who will present the FIRST bulletin from the mailbox, but ....

OUR VERY OWN KAY ALEXANDER!!!

Quote:
Nick Owen presents the last bulletin from Pebble Mill at 10.30pm on Friday 22 October and Kay Alexander presents the first news report from The Mailbox at 1.30pm on Monday 25 October.

i'd imagine that first broadcast from the box will be at 6.25am though, can't see our kay presenting brekkie from the mill, then getting the old 144 midland red to town to present the lunchtime!

So are there going to be no bulletins on Saturday and Sunday then? Just BBC London News perhaps with no opt-out? Or perhaps EMT?

Sorry to interupt the current Midlands Today news, but I have to mention the end of ITV Central News tonight, I thought the camera was going to fly off! I have seen camers move bad in the wind before, but the final 3 seconds was really bad, plus stunning Live Lighting scene, lighting up the whole background!

Back to Midlands Today and cant wait for the new look!
