the first gallery shot is not the mailbox- the bit where it scrolls down the screens is mailbox, The man going "wheres the sat van coming from" is mailbox the "cue and cut" bit is mail box. has every other region got this
The first gallery shot in the Midlands Today version posted above certainly looks very much like the Midlands Today gallery at the Mailbox. It looks like it is shot from the graphics end, towards the sound desk. You can see the window that people in the public space can look in through. (The director in all of the shots is the main Midlands Today director as well...)

indeed - and the people in shot are bbc mids bods too.
Suzanne & Ashley are 'tripping the light fantastic', as they are dancing for CIN.
Suzanne was out of the studio on Monday, practising live with Ashley & the respective dance partners in a LIVE from somewhere.
Sarah Faulkland partnered Nick on Monday, but Suzanne was back in the studio on Tuesday, complete with slippers, as her feet were killing her!
Shefali was on Monday, but Simon Keeling was on Tuesday, as Shef was doing something for CIN, but no one's said what yet!
As for WM, Jane France was off Tuesday, so Mollie's phones after 6am were handled by Anastascia the Yank, who seemed a bit more brighter than she was Sunday morning, due to lack of sleep & a cold, when I caught Les' show & she explained her neighbours had kept her & her other half awake with a noisy party!
If you're going to St Andrews on Saturday, for the footy derby, WM are starting the Toy Appeal from there, with Jimmy Franks & Wonder Moose.
(According to an accidental on air comment made this morning, one person mentioned in this post is in the WM costume! 'You can't say that! Children might be listening!')
Is it me or does Phil Upton bear a slight resemblance to Dev from Corrie? (The eyes mainly, according to the infamous trail!)
News coming in on the wires... Central's Emma Jesson has been shortlisted to be the voice of the Speaking Clock:
Emma Jesson (37), who is a Freelance Presenter & Weathergirl from Edgbaston, Birmingham, said: "To be on the shortlist for the voice of the Speaking Clock on its 70th Birthday - as well as raising money for BBC Children in Need - is an honour and a privilege.
"Wow, imagine if I was to be the voice of the Speaking Clock, as well as the weather - two national obsessions! One thing's for sure, the time checks will be more reliable than the British weather!"
Winner announced on Children In Need, Friday night.

She was on about this on CNE tonight! She is in a 15-person shortlist. The money raised is going to charities she supports, which is why she keen to do it.
i notice bbc mids didnt opt back until half way through the tory party political last night - well it would have been criminal to cut suzannes dance short - she was fab!
oh and they used the theme tune (yes its library) to sue beardsmore's whitley court during a report the other day, awwww.
Do any of the local radio stations actually broadcast a local CIN service late into the evening?
All WM seem to do is broadcast till about 10pm, then swop to 'normal' programming (Midlands Masala). (I'm guessing the Mailbox complex shuts around 11pm, to get rid of Joe Public!), while flicking onto the 'other' Late Show broadcast from Radio Nottingham provides an OB at Nottingham Airport, with plenty of references to BBC East Midlands & the other East Mids, which presumbly went down well with Shropshire, Stoke & presumbly Hereford & Worcester too(I was listening on Shropshire, & the split news jingle mentioned Stoke & Shropshire, but not H&W, so were they there in the first place?)
Isn't it about time Shropshire, Stoke & H & W got their fingers out, budgetwise, & provide a proper Late Show for their stations, because they do it at the weekend anyway?
Going back to the East Mids Late Show, they've had a similar competion to Midlands Today, where local presenters competed for dancing.
Amongst the contestants were former WM evening presenter, about 10 to 15 years ago, Andy Whittaker, now at Radio Derby, current Late Show presenter Rob Underwood's immediate predesscor, Frances Finn, now working Nottingham daytimes, & for WM interest, Waddo & Julie, representing Radio Leicester.
Originally T & J won the competition, but 2 mystery judges appeared(representing BBC East Mids weather?), & declared Nottingham the winners.
(Co-incidence, seeing Radio Nottingham is the 'home' station for this Late Show?)

And on the third stroke, bye-bye!
She didn't win, in case anyone cares!
What time was the item on on CiN please?
I don't know I'm afraid, I heard that she didn't win from someone else

It's a shame BBC English Regions can't opt out more often IMO!
Much as I respect Ronnie Barker & his work, I'm getting fed up of these bloody reruns of Open All Hours & Keeping Up Appearences etc.
Even if they repeated some of the 'classic' regional series, such as Sue Beardsmore's 'Balloon', which I saw, Tony Butler's stuff from the 80's, which I never saw anyway, it would be a change.
I'm assuming these shows still exist in the archives, so is it a rights problem?
