So when is MT start to broadcast from the Mailbox? It seemed a long time ago they had a special programme, announcing the move and it has seemed to go on forever!

Onto BBC WM now, & Doolan's interview with Nick Owen revealed that the final live MT bulletin will be the Friday 1025 on 22 October

hmmm can't see them starting to use the mailbox on a saturday ... perhaps nick was over looking the weekend - or refering to his last bulletin from the mill?

I'm sure Janice said overnight R2 moves over on the 25th as well. I know she and Alex have had a couple of visits there already practising with the many buttons [apparently] and their new jingles.

I'm guessing that the Friday evening Doolan repeat will be the Tony & Julie one again, so anyone who's interested can tune in at 8pm on WM.

what a FAB item on inside out - looking behind the scenes. and good old kay doing a practice bulletin!

I saw that and agree it was FAB. One thing that confused an outsider like me was the guy who was monitoring both national and regional output across all channels on those mosaic screens. Why would this be done at the Mailbox? Would this not be done at BBC Monitoring or at News 24?

Just wondering...

bbc english regions (people in charge of local output in england) hq is at bbc birmingham.

i have to say the new set is looking fab - lots of back lit red strips - and it looks like there'll be no CSOing for the weather, simply using one of the 2 "screens".

looks like they'll be experimenting with DVE effects in the headlines too Laughing

When's the final MT (Friday 1830 edition) from Pebble Mill gonna be? 15th or 22nd October?

That figures. They'll need training in Dira after using RCS for xx number of years.

I think it'll be on the 22nd, with the first Mailbox program on 25th October.

I see that Midlands Today have started using the winter titles again tonight.

. . . . and a nice look at the clutter under the desk. So this is what we pay our TV licence for Rolling Eyes . . . . . . . although I did quite enjoy it! Laughing
