A few changes on BBC Midlands TV & Radio today at least(I know with WM, they're for a few weeks at least!)
On TV, Nick is joined by Satnam Rana, rather than Suzanne Virdee, while Simon Keeling is in for Shefali Oza.
On Radio(BBC WM), Daz & Jo Summer Breakfast, until Mr Upton starts in September, Danny Kelly is back from holiday, after being subbed by Trish AdontDont, while Paul Franks is on hols for 2 weeks, being replaced by Nick Piercey.
While Tony Butler is away & Daz Hale is on breakfast, the second coming of Malcolm Boyden on the evening show, but whether he'll still do Hereford & Worcester on Tuesdays I dunno.
(At the moment, the bloody cricket's on, so Boyden was down to start at 830pm tonight!)
I'm off this week, but didn't wake up till 7am, so don't know if Mollie was back this morning!
The Wolverhampton City Show is on this weekend, & apparantly WM is down there, but is this more WCR than WM, as there is extensive DAB coverage as well. (Remember a couple of years ago, when something similar was mentioned on the forum? Maybe Mr B & his mate the rabbit man from Tiswas are involved?)
'Morning Westy2.
Yup we were there again - I was involved but Matt from Tiswas couldn't make it.
We did 12-4 on the Saturday, then 12-7 on the Sunday, followed by the frequencies coming back together for a highlights programme in WCR's regular Sunday 7-8 slot. I did the Saturday 1-2 slot, after first doing a test hour (on WCR AM only) during my regular Saturday morning show.
We did things slightly different this year. Whereas in 2004 the whole thing (music, jingles and all) came from the Show itself, this time round we each carried round a backpack containing a portable transmitter, sending our Mic signals back to WCR (1/4 mile away) then it was all mixed in WCR's studios and sent back down our permanet circuit to the Mailbox. WM's Chief Engineer (who is also WCR's Engineering Director) organised it all and drove the studio while we were at the show doing our stuff. He's looking at the forum right now - and did a terrific job bringing it all together!
We think it worked really well, plus we broadcast on the Birmingham webstream too. Thanks to WM's boss, Keith Beech, for letting us do stuff like this - he's all for it!
Funnily enough, both of Wolverhampton's other radio stations were there, telling all and sundry that they were the official station of the show. Beacon's cool - I worked there for 10 years, and I still love 'em to bits. But we spotted the other one, named after an animal... I think it's known as 'The Goat' ... in their 'Mr Whippy' van, sitting in deckchairs doing live links... and no-one was going anywhere near them... shame... (you see, local radio rivalry lives on!) We, on the other hand, went out and spoke to most of the exhibitors, and made some excellent radio!

I wish I came over on the Sunday, instead of having this 'bright idea' of going to Merry Hell by bus from Bloxwich instead! (2 f**king hours to get there ! I asked this one driver, bearing in mind it's a Sunday service, 'Is it easier to change at Dudley or Brierley Hill?'. He said 'Change at Dudley!' I had to wait another half hour for a 222, which was late & went via Russells Hall Hospital & Upper Pensnett, which looked a right **** IMO & I know **** in Walsall ! On the plus side Diamond Bus currently run a through bus on Sundays between Walsall & Merry Hell which I thought I couldn't use my pass on, but if you show your TWM pass, you can use Diamond Bus for 50p so I returned in half the time!)
The Wilf's not too bad during the day IMO. Beacon's another matter.
I take it none of the WM presenters came down then?
Must get my Tiswas DVD out again for another spin! (Briiight Eyeees. Boirning like foirre !)

I've never been a big fan of The Goat (!!) although it's got it's own audience I guess. I'm still quite loyal to Beacon after being there for all that time.

Is he still a fireman?
I'll tell Matt he has another fan - yeah, he's still foiting those foires!
Watch out for another Tiswas DVD... we at TiswasOnline are hoping to help out with it...
I don't think any of the regular WM presenters came down to the show, other than a couple from the WM Newsroom to see if they could gather any clips for FM... which I gather weren't used in the end. Actually I guess you could class Saul from the Wolverhampton Community Magazine as a regular WM presenter, although he's based here in Wolves (3 feet away from where I'm sitting!)

PS The Wumpty Hotline = 0121 200 2700
Is that number still going? I thought they were using 0870 608 2608 these days?
I was doing my 'research' on line(which is incorrect if anyone from Centro is reading btw!), plus the CENTRO leaflet for the Dudley - Walsall - Stourbridge corridor!
Who's Saul? (Sorry I don't listen to the Sunday show, 'cos it's TOTP & Corrie time most weeks!)
Forgot to mention, I heard Mollie this morning & texted in to ask about her tank driving!
Her reply was along the lines of ' I broke it !'
I texted back to say 'Now why does that not surprise me! '

well it was still going strong the last time i had need of it a couple of weeks ago. it seems silly to pay 0870 rates when there is a perfectly good local number for the same job.
shame that just as people are getting the hang of calling it the centro hotline, they seem to be renaming the whole thing "network west midlands" - how dull.

It only seems to be in Walsall area at the mo. I guess it will roll out to other areas later.
Staying off topic, I went past my old school earlier & noticed the bus stop outside.
It had a new / current 'Arriva' blue sticker on, but it still had the 'old' dark blue 'West Midlands' sticker from the PTE days as well !
Is there any more 'old' West Midlands stickers still dotted about the county, because I mostly see a mixture of 'West Midlands Travel', 'Travel West Midlands', 'Centro' & 'Network West Midlands' thesedays?

Thanks for posting that, I live by Pensnett. Agree though, I live on the better side of the fens pool by russells hall hospital.

There was one part of the route where you had a fairly nice house, then the house next door has got something about druggies painted over it !
Not a good advert for the area IMO.
Have you ever been to the Blakenall area of Walsall?
The private housing group are in process of bulldozing the council houses & replacing them with new builds. The old tenants were offered £15,000 to move. A friend of mine(one of my old CB buddies!) is now finally moving roughly a mile away next week.
(It's Walsall New Deal if you're interested!)
Back to topic(well nearly!), & Mollie is in for Janice Long tomorrow, 9 till 12.
Today's show touched briefly on cosmic ordering(the Noel Edmonds thing!).
Eve Jackson, the current duty AM newsreader on WM, said to Mollie, 'I couldn't find a necklace, so I said 'I want to find it by such & such a time', & lo & behold there it was!
So Mollie threw open the subject.
Her replies included a regular trucker who wanted to take Jane France for a meal at a Little Chef!
I suggested the local football teams ought to try it, plus a few of us 'cosmically ordered' Eve Jackson for good measure!
(It's the voice !) (TV M - How about a pic please?)
Daz Hale has been interviewed for Local TV (I think it's shown tonight!), & you can see his unironed shirt on screen too (so he said!)
It's Doolan's 65th birthday this Thursday & on Friday, they're off to Weston Super Mare to celabrate on air, with surprise guests(read colleagues, I think Les & Malcolm are both going down there at least, but Eddie Large might be down there, according to the trail currently running!), but today it was 'The Other Side Of Ed Doolan' (again! Didn't Boyden do one about 3 years ago for him?) with Nick Owen interviewing him..
Looks like Mollie's 'friend' that's on the Poker thing's lost tonight !
I forgot to mention Wednesday to Friday's MT's were presented by Nick & Sarah.
