When's the programme going to be a bit longer than normal? Razz

Well Granada Reports was about 2 or 3 minutes longer than normal tonight, so in ITV terms, I think that counts. Laughing

Has anyone in the overlap area, who does not follow TV presentation forums etc, twigged that CNW & CNE both come from Brum?

I would've thought if they didn't know then, they know now!

Surely ITV is maintaining the 'illusion' that CNE actually comes from the East Mids, even if it doesn't really?

In other regions, where multi region programmes are presented from one building(Anglia, Meridan), has the 'general public' in certain sub regions twigged that their programme doesn't actually come from the sub region in question?

They are still 'pretending'! Rolling Eyes They are having a feature over the summer called 'MIdlife MOT' (don't ask). One of the guinea pigs is Mike Dolan, one of the producers.

A trailer for this feature had him follwed hecticly round the newroom at Terry Lloyd House, before he went through a doorway.... this doorway has Doctor Who/Narnia-like qualities, because on the other side of the door was the gallery for CNE in the Birmingham studios!! Rolling Eyes

ITV's technology is obviously so good, they can create a portal in a doorway that can transport you 55 miles in less than an inch Laughing

Good to see James Wright presenting the lunchtime bulletins Very Happy Very Happy . Seems strange having the main bulletin at 4pm though!!! I suppose there's little alternative though.

They were quick with whipping the camera away weren't they?

Was there a problem at Breakfast too?

They seemed to have a problem with the video servers, as Sarah Faulkland twice apologised for lack of reports over the morning, but they still managed to do a live from Hockley from the scene of the nightclub fire.

It also appeared, according to the WM Breakfast Show travel reader(not Jane France!), that Molie asked on air, that the smoke even affected the WM air conditioning.

'Jane, can you smell burning ?' etc.

I'm off this week, but I managed to text in, before it went down for an hour, to say Hi to Mollie & mention I was off, but threatening to go back to sleep at 7(I didn't after all, as mentioned above!). She said that bed was the best place IHO Cool (She even got a Doolan Dove award for rescuing kittens too!)

I gather there's a bit of action at BBC Brum tomorrow, both involving local TV (MT World Cup free zone!) & local radio (WM Franksy live from the public space), unless I've misheard?

looked more like a in-camera-pre-record "as live" to me. rather disappointing, as there were absolutely no shots of the supposedly spectacular blaze - meanwhile central had pictures very early on in the morning.

during one of the bulletins with no pictures poor old sarah apologised and told us it was lucky we all had very good imaginations.

So how did BBC London crop up on the plasma?

when the six presenters hand over, nick and suzanne thank them, with the six presenters in the plasma (we are very well mannered here in the midlands don't you know).

i'd guess bbc mids had the network feed going into the plasma instead of the clean studio feed, and thus when london opted, it all went wrong.

that wasn't the only mistake tonight mind, the ident audio at 6.00 carried on underneath the first couple of headlines on the six.

seeing as the footie was on central during midlands today, they declared the programme a footie free zone and had an audience of people who didnt like football on the politics show set and in one of the meeting rooms.

I thought the opening wide shot was the funniest thing I've seen for a long time - how many news programs have ever featured a child sitting drawing in the corner of the set for the duration of the program. Laughing

Drat, you've all beaten me to it !

Never mind, you can have my own 'unique take' on events, as usual anyway.

(I even pre-prepared this & copied & pasted it as well !)

*The plane incident at Birmingham Airport was featured heavily on BBC Birmingham output (WM & Local TV), & caused massive disruption for the passengers, but very unlucky for 2 WM competition winners, who
had won tickets from Franksy, to go to the England match.

There was no way they could get there in time, so they ended up at the Mailbox public space with Franksy & a consolation bottle of champers. (You may have seen one of them on Midlands Today)

Franksy, of course, was holding his live Carribean afternoon & inviting us great unwashed to join him.

One of the audience recomended the BBC green tea('59p cheaper than Starbucks!')

Earlier Danny Kelly's show came from the Gardners World show at the Nec.

Talking of Midlands Today, Suzanne was off, so Nick was partnered by Shefali, which meant Simon was doing the weather, plus, like WM, the great unwashed were also invited into a 'World Cup Free Zone'

(Well they had to do something to take viewers away from the Gas Street & Co's efforts. Personally I taped MT, listened to most of Franksy & watched the match with no volume !)

Also listened to most of Butler & Daz Hale as well.

Finally, spare a thought for WM sports reporter Mike Taylor. He was stuck at Edgbaston watching Warwickshire losing, while the footy was on.*

There, I've got it out of my system. Didn't hurt a bit, did it!
