Unusual pairing of Nick & Satnam tonight.

(I think Nick made reference to Satnam dropping in at the last minute(?))

WM usual Tony Butler football phone in tonight extended to 9pm, due to more comments on the state of West Mids footy !

I have finally found the problem with Central's studio. It's not the camera's at all. The platform if further forward now than launch, therefore smaller look screen behind.

But why have they moved it forward, making it look dodgy?

Sarah Faulkland has joined Nick for the rest of the week so far on MT.

Anyone spot the 'BBC London' on the big screen briefly? (Vision Mixer problem again?)

Anyone who went to the Take That in Brum last night may have seen Mollie there as well.

She had a late night too, so for the first hour of today's Early Show,we were all informed that it was the 26th, until I got fed up & texted in 'It's the 27th !'

"Jane, Is it the 26th or 27th today?"

"It's the 27th, Mollie!"

"Oh drat, I've been giving out the wrong date for the last hour!"

A few thousand listeners probably Rolling Eyes at this point !

doesn't take a genius to work out its due to redundancy. all the best to her, lets hope she returns to our screens soon.

Hi

I have a question, does Central sometimes use the South region to back up for West (News I mean), or frequently cock up on analogue or something, because the person who captured this gets his Central signal from Sutton Coldfield Transmitter but he got this:

Is this accurate?

Thanks

No, that's Central West that happens to have Wes Smith covering for Bob (who now seems to be the natural successor for Bob when he hangs up his jacket).

Thanks for the info. Smile I got confused because I saw the South presenters and the studio looked very different. Embarassed

Tony Butler was the featured radio presenter in the Brum Mail's 'Behind The Mic' feature, which revealed he & Mark Regan (current WM sports editor) are off to Germany for WM this summer.

Tone is also 71 this May (15th I think!).

Talking of birthday's, it's Mollie's 31st on Monday.

(I think she's on, but I can't remember, but there's no Doolan, with Danny Kelly 10 till 1, & Trish Adudu in for Danny 1 till 4.)

Mentioned tonight on MT :

Regional updates during the election prog Thursday night, with cameras at every count apparantly.

The entire Sunday Politics Show, both network & regional bits, will come from BBC Birmingham. (Does this mean we'll see Goldie & / or Pat Burns on network?)

In addition, there is a WM election special tomorrow night from 11, with Doolan.(I'm guessing until 2am, is anyone gonna stop up & find out?)

New slot coming soon on the Early Show. It's 'Mollie's Metal Detecting'! Rolling Eyes

She's got representatives coming from the Bloxwich Metal Detecting Club!

(I don't know what's more embarassing, the metal detecting itself or the fact Bloxwich has a metal detecting club ! (I do live there by the way. I never knew Bloxwich was so cultured! Rolling Eyes )

Good News !

The 'Canking Patch' reopens for business on WM July 10 !

Malcolm Boyden's coming back to present the Evening Show for 9 weeks, while Daz Hale & presumbly Tony Butler are elsewhere.

Hale is replacing Adrian Goldberg until they sort out a permanent presenter.

Ironically the show Malc's doing is the one he 'refused' after being moved from afternoons.

(If you remember Danny Kelly eventually took over that slot, after Mollie continued presenting solo for a further few weeks.)

Since leaving, he's published a book, wrote for The Times, & worked for Five Live.

More recently he's doing Tuesday nights & Sunday mornings on Hereford & Worcester & Saturday breakfast on Coventry & Warwickshire.

Keith Beech is happy to see him back, as he feels Malc's become a broader broadcaster since doing work at the other stations.

This will be Malc's first broadcast from the Mailbox as a presenter(He was a guest of Les's one Sunday morning a few months back!), but ISTR he was involved in some dedication at the Mailbox before he left.(TV M, I remember it being mentioned on air, but can't remember what was said!)

Malc's loking forward to being back at WM & hearing from the listeners again.

I'm sure that the 'Boyden Babes' will agree.

Also Brum comedian & occasional presenter Malcolm Stent's back in circulation again, after his recent spell of ill health.
