Good old Nick Owen eh? I've just been invited to tour the Mailbox with him next month AND he might be putting aside a signed copy of his autobiography (out soon) for me as well!

The Biggie Birthday Presents arrive! Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Can I assume you've not heard about his cancer scare then, Kath ?

I've heard a rumour it might get a mention in said autobiography.

The first I heard about it was Wednesday morning, when he was interviewed by Adrian Goldberg, & it got a mention in our local paper, the Express & Star, last night too !

ISTR it was around last Xmas it happened, & IMSMC(If memory serves me correctly, for future reference!), he had a longer break off screen than normal !

It was mentioned on The Wright Stuff Extra on Wednesday morning when they reviewing some local Newspapers. Though it was strange that it was caused by a wasps nest or something like that. Though they mentioned he was a newsreader on a 'Programme in the Midlands'

Eh? Shocked Ain't you on about this Nick Owen? Or is it just one of those 'coincidental' name things?

It's coincidental !

Quick reminder for those of you in the BBC Radio WM area, that on Sunday at 10am, Ed Doolan's interviewing Nick as well.

Something's that struck me.

Doolan's had health problems over the years(The infamous heart bypass for starters!), then Julie Mayer(she of the WM Late Show fame), had a cancer scare earlier this year, now Nick, & coincidentally all 3 are on Sunday morning, along with Julie's hubby, Tony Wadsworth, on WM.

What's the betting Ed, Nick & Julie will get together during the prog, & discuss on air about it?

(It's 'The Other Side Of Tony & Julie' at 11am BTW!)

the new midlands today set is taking shape - 2 big screens in corners diagonally opposite each other with the sofa in another corner. and red seems to dominate still.

atleast its not an east mids today style joke set or wacky south today café or points west ... well, whatever that is.

Nick did mention breiefly, or rsther suzanne did the cancer thing as there was an item on there about cancer. Good old Nick always a brave face. its great that i pick them up even though i am in east, but i must say this new look will make MT look much nore fresh, especially the credist they look so out dated. Suzanne and Nick are great though!!!
i live in the east and can pick up WM much rather watch them than dreary old Dominic

i think there is a lighter colour in there - not sure if its "cream" though?

interesting to note the preview of tomorrow's inside out just shown ... a look at "the most advanced broadcasting centre in europe, right here in the midlands"... so thats *more* footage of the mailbox ... bbc mids do love a 'bit' of self promotion don't they.

Bit more news now.

BBC Hereford & Worcester's(strange to say that now !) Malcolm Boyden spotted on tonight's MT, with Sophie Long, trying out his bits of 'Boyden speak' on the tourists of Stratford upon Avon.('Home & Colonial, Greased weasel droppings' etc)

Onto BBC WM now, & Doolan's interview with Nick Owen revealed that the final live MT bulletin will be the Friday 1025 on 22 October, & when they move, there will be new titles.

(He also mentioned that various empty Pebble Mill offices are being used as 'Doctors' sets!)

'The Other Side Of' Tony & Julie has revealed that Julie Mayer is going back into hospital, this time for 'women's troubles' (I think!), so Waddo is flying 'solo' until after the New Year on the WM Late Show.

Good news, Mollie's back from her hols ! Very Happy & yours truly joined the many texters welcoming her back !
