Slightly different schedule on WM today.

I don't know how the early schedule worked, but I assume it was Brekky 6 till 9, with no Early Show, then Doolan 9 till 12, with computer & rare records phone ins, then Trish AdontDont 12 till 3, then Keithy Boy Middleton 3 till 5, then the Wolves match from 5 till 8 (Wolves have drew again !!), then back to normal with The Other Side Of Neil Innes (Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band fame!) talking to Doolan at 8, Masala at 9, then Jail Mail from 12 till 1.

No Early Show on Monday either!

Plattie's 'Behind The Mic' in today's Birmingham / Black Country Mail !

Noticed flicking through the SKY EPG earlier that the regional data seems to be f**ked again, displaying 'BBC London News' again !

Can't the default be altered to read 'Regional News' at least ?

Anyone notice the new trails for Franksy's show('Goldie reckons he knows what team I support'. For the benefit of new readers, it's a running joke on the station that nobody knows what team Franksy supports, unlike Goldie & Boyden (WBA), Middleton, Hale & Wilkes(Wolves), Platt(Birmingham City), Chinn(Villa), mind you noone's admitted supporting Walsall to my knowledge!) & the 'Listen Again', featuring the Doctor Who spoofs & the bad Rose Tyler impression from Jenny Jones!

andy knowles, bernadette kearney and michael collie appearing on this evenings midlands today - just like the old days! mind you this evenings show had an unusual ending - mike did an intro to an easter related report and said his goodbyes and the programme ended with the copyright caption overlaid at the end of the report. i presume time was tight this evening.

might have been something innovative though.

We know the rest of BBC news seem close-o-phobic what with the lack of closes on World and that horrid "so it's goodbye from me and now we join our newsteams" mess on the One.

Midlands Today presented tonight by Nick in the studio(Ian (Ex 1990's WM sports editor!) Winter on sport) & Suzanne on location at Peuegot Coventry, due to that site closing soon.

(Did I hear gallery/studio talkback during Shefali's bit ?)

(TVM -Before Franksy started working full time for WM, didn't he used to work there? I'm sure I read something years ago!)

According to the press office web site, another ex WM sports editor, Tim Beech is now BBC Radio Shropshire managing editor(The same as Keith Beech at WM!)

(My brother met Tim years ago, he says. ISTR Tim's family were in business in the Walsall area!)

Apart from my usual text mention by Mollie, Nick Piercey, subbing for Goldie on brekkie, read one of my texts out yesterday as well !

According to tonight's 'Express & Star' , Goldie's giving up WM brekky after 3 years, to 'pursue other interests',
but Herr Flick is talking to him about doing other projects so it won't be the last listeners hear from him.

No departure date yet though & I guess we don't know who's taking over yet either!

(I wonder if I'll get a PM from a certain regular re this!)

Did I mishear this evening, or did Sarah Faulkland say 'Welcome to Wednesday's Midlands Today'?

Best of luck tonight to TNS Ladies footy team in Shropshire, as they play(weather permitting) Shrewsbury Ladies at the Gay Meadow(I think?).

Regular Mollie Green listeners will know Jane France(Mollie's phone answerer & 'partner in crime'!) is the coach for TNS & was previously involved with Shrewsbury Ladies.

I'll try & listen to see how they got on when Mollie asks Jane tomorrow.

Probably. She introduced (during the afternoon update) herself and the signer looked rather miffed at not being mentioned. I'm sure there could be more than a few dubious hand shapes during that bulletin...

Indeed Shrewsbury Ladies are playing in Gay Meadow, and by all account the weather is fine. I try to keep a kean ear out, been my old stamping ground so to speak, and will indeed be interested to see how they do.

Well I rather idly looked on Sky High just now [I'm not in the mood for Lucy Cohen trotting up and down a street in Cilfynydd], and see that they are in Wrexham.

From this rather generous interpretation of the midlands, I see they have also been to Monmouthshire.

Mind you doubtless the majority of people there watch Central on analogue [midlands RT can also be bought in Chester].

I just thought.

'Shrewsbury Ladies playing in Gay Meadow', sounds like a headline from the Daily Star(not that I read said rag of course!).

Are you able to listen to Mollie anyway? (5am till 7am weekdays on WM. She normally has her chat with Jane after the 6am news!)

Doesn't it just, I seem to remember, when Shrewsbury played Everton that something simular was run as a headline.

I try to, although it's prodominatly Eric Smith's Breakfast Show on Radio Shropshire that I listen to but I will occassionally use the Listen Again feature on BBC WM.

its sad news, adrians a top bloke and a fantastic broadcaster. sad to see him move on, it is indeed a mystery as to who will replace him. please don't let it be franksy, his "funny" headlines feature is beyond cringeworthy.

i cant watch mile high any more - its just not the same without mar-eee. but yes, it seems central south consider monmouthshire as their patch, but i dont know how extensively they cover it and i guess the editorial boundaries were drawn up before monmouthshire was given back to wales?

the area was always featured on the maps used on midlander of the year. here's an itc map showing just how far the central region reaches ...

Couple of bits of good news (IMO)

First, TNS Ladies(WM's Jane France's team!) beat Shrews Ladies 4 - 2.

Secondly, Janice Long is off tomorrow & guess who's standing in ?

MOLLIE

Yippee !

(It's between 9am & 12pm, if anyone's interested !)

I used to love "Samantha's Sunday Night Party" on WM on Sunday nights during the early 90s.

I know Samantha Meah went to Talk Radio for a while, but do any of you know what became of her?
