Why should Anglia Tonight get their Knight back and Central nothing? Why can't we have our cake back??

Also do I detect the next stage of dropping "Central" from the title?
It seems that all reporters now sign off "Tom Parmenter, ITV Central News"... the ITV name seems to have crept in there too!

I do however like the new package...much better than the blue and yellow blocks! Love the new backdrop...will look great with the lighter nights!

My theory is the reason why they put "itv" in the new titles is because if you look at our old look, we had the 4 blocks, so the "itv" is just a replacement, and it's better for the in this era if it's "itv Central" for branding purposes.

Is the new backdrop live and why is the picture still poor? Are they using a cheap camera compared to other regions?

In case anybody's interested, the FA Cup is on display at the Mailbox public space tomorrow(Saturday) between 930am & 530pm, with 'me' Daz Hale keeping an eye on things there.

(I might pop & have a shufti, but 2 Man U fans(nephew & his cousin) I know won't be going for various reasons. Pity it's probably the only bit of silverware Man U fans are gonna see this season!)

Ref my previous post, the Rev Mervyn's letter has also appeared in Thursday's Birmingham/Black Country Mail in a slightly amended form.

File this next bit under 'Oh god, what has she done now !'

I switched Mollie on this morning & she was describing her fake tan disaster, 'like third degree burns' & her hands were apparantly brown one side & white the other! (Jane suggested she wear gloves until it toned down a bit! (I think Mollie didn't use them, she said!))

Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

Why do you women bother with all this stuff? I can understand the make up, but why fake tan ?

Sometimes you have to feel sorry for her feller Lewis(I think?)

I wonder if she'll pop down tomorrow too?

Have to take the mick, if she does !

Well, did anyone go down to the Mailbox to have a look at the FA Cup ?

I did !

I took the opputunity to have a look upstairs as well, at the other displays, plus get some more photos too!

Intriguing to notice by the canteen area, there was a display of various BBC Brum personalities photos that were signed to someone called Shaun(whoever he is, some woman was behind the counter this afternoon!)

However, when you try to get a set of photos from the bird in the shop, all she had was certain ones, no pictures of Goldie (again!) & Janice Long, despite ones being on 'Shaun's board' !

(It's as bad as Travel West Midlands in Walsall Bus Station, where they never seem to have a complete set of Walsall area leaflets, or at best, photocopies of certain leaflets! And I had to go on the 51 to Brum as well, because they've stopped the 951 & the trains were on 'staff shortages' as well !)

They even still had pictures of Gaunt & Tom Manners in the box too, & they've left now, plus 2 different shots of Shefali too!

TVM, if you're reading this, how come some of the photos are bigger than normal? (I think Cayte's photo's out of date too, compared to the WM magazine picture of her !)

Interesting MT tonight, starting with no titles(did I hear some talkback at the start!) & ending with Shefali having a massage & dong the weather live at the same time! Smile

By the way Mollie's fake tan problem is getting better, as she replied to my text this morning, she doesn't look like she's got third degree burns anymore.(I was first on the text this morning as well ! Wink )

Umm. Bit of a bodge. Starting by crashing into the intro with several loud bangs and then simply abandoning it completely, with lots of long freezes I noticed. TalkBack all the way through the sport (now with rather nice new graphics) and then Shef in a massage parlor. Classic!

Hello Westy.

I am Shaun - someone told me I'd been mentioned on here so i thought I'd come to see, and answer some of your questions.

Firstly, who am I - well, I run the BBC Shop at the Mailbox & can often be seen in the public space - if you visit Monday - Friday it's likely you will come accross me, I've been there since day one, and have been with the BBC for 4 years.

We have two sets of photo's on the Cafe walls - the ones behind the counter are addressed to Pablo - he runs the Cafe throughout the week. On his collection, he has kept a history of presenters who have visited his cafe past & present (not including the EastEnders cast pics!) and they have signed the pics for him.

On my collection, that is a collection of the present BBC WM // Midlands Today & BBC Birmingham Programmes famous faces. I try to keep this updated as possible. As you may have noticed, the WM pics are in the best order they can be in representing when each show is on Mon-Sun (so Mollie is first, and so on, with extras like Thrower & Walker at the end) Then it goes to Midlands Today, then Radio 2 & then some BBC programme personalities like Wogan (points of view) & Craven (Countryfile)

The Janice Long pic you saw is not an official WM card, they are still to be made & we will update that once they arrive - the one currently on that wall is from Radio 2. They only gave us a very small handful of presenter cards to give out when I went to their office to get them, as they had a short supply - so they were given away on a first come, first served basis.

I hold my hands up with the lack of Goldberg pics - we ran out & I haven't had chance to fill the box yet, but I'll pop up to the WM offices in the morning and raid the draw containing all rthe pics and get a full range of what they have left.

The reason we still have Gaunt & Manners in there is because people still ask for them on occasion - also, it would be a shame to waste them & throw them away, so I keep them and once they have all gone, they will not be replaced. This is also the reason we have two different shots of Shefali, some are the old cards & some are the new - we use them all up & try not to watse any - I mean, at the end of the day a pic of Shefali is a pic of Shefali, whatever position she is in Smile

I have no idea why some of the newer pics were larger than previous...maybe they were experimenting with a new style - we have just had a fresh 2006 set of Midlands Today cards come in at the normal size, so maybe they will go back to normal - I just take them as they come. Cayte's photo is a little old now, and her appearance has changed, like many other faces (Alex Lester for example) but if we took a new photo everytime someone grew or cut their hair, it would be very expensive & time consuming!

If you would like me to send you a full set of Radio WM / Mids Today photocards Westy, private me your address (or private me for my BBC email address so you know im genuine) and I'll get them sent to you, or, if you would like signed ones of different presenters, you can write to them individualy at :

Hi Shaun

Nice to hear from you, as I'm sure other people are as well.

I wasn't criticising anyone, just making an observation.

Going back to the shop sale, is this because certain titles are being deleted?

Regards to Mollie, if you see her about. (I'll more than likely text into the show at some point anyway ! Wish she'd come on here !)

(Apologies to everyone else. I suppose I could've done that as a PM, but seeing it was done as a post, I thought it only fair to reply in public !)

Righto(I'll start doing my Les Ross impersonation then Wink ), I gather Doolan's off for a bit, according to Mollie this morning, so Bernadette Kearney was doing today's show at least, while Trish AdontDont was in for Danny Kelly.

Turkey award for whoever supplies the radio listings to the Express & Star & the Mail.

We are now 'BBC Coventry & Warwickshire', broadcasting on 95.6 FM Rolling Eyes

Is Nick Owen sitting in all the time for Doolan, while he's off?

(The Express & Star lists him as doing tomorrow's show!)

Robert Beckford sat in for Ed on the Sunday show. (Only caught the last few minutes, as I tuned in for Les !)

Since when have Midlands Today had the presenter standing at the big screen for the late program? Looked interesting, but I'm not sure if this was for the whole program, or just the end as I was only listening at the begining of the program. They also seem to have introduced a 'round up' of the days stories with the wierd rotating string in between each of the stories. Sorry if this has already been mentioned.

What's with this standing on the 1025?

Anybody would think it's five news !
