Does anybody watch this local TV service?

I do sometimes, it's incredibly dull most of the time, but it's well put together.

I do like seeing West Bromwich and Dudley on the Black Country segment though. *the excitement*

Soft question, but why not just do the 'old favourite' of caption slides instead?
well we make do with still captions every weekend in the midlands don't we - and i don't recall having london forecasts in the week between christmas and new year last year. perhaps they feel the impending weather means its nice to have a detailed forecast - either that or it takes up more time - meaning they have to fill less time themselves Laughing

what day is the other side of tom coyne on westy?

Haven't a clue TVM (Surely you're in a better position than me to find that one out!)

My boss flicked on the radio while giving us a lift tonight.

Cue jingle 'BBC WM with Shabina Akthar', cue groan from me !

Could be worse, could be Trish Adontdont, who is on 9 till 12 Monday morning. (Going back to Beech's phone in the other day, someone did text in to say (not me btw), 'No more Trish Adudu please!)

well this is my final post in the thread for 05, so happy new year to you all.

the last midlands today was presented by none-other than kay alexander! people who dont watch breaskfast in the mornings must be thinking she's come out of retirement to present over the past week! how odd was it hearing kay reading out the footie results!

kay wishes us all happy new year ...

So TVM, I take it you didn't find out when The Other Side Of Tom Coyne was on?

Had a listen to part of Tony Butler's final Saturday phone in, & I did notice that one of the callers from the Beech phone in managed to get on air & have a pop about Janice Long. (Give the girl a chance! I gave Gaunt a chance & still thought he was a big head!)

I think the same caller also had a pop at Keith Beech, because Butler was running one of of his (in)famous competitions, 'Name a tree', or summat, & the comment was made about a Beech growing in the Mailbox & being very thick ! Shocked

Decisions Decisions tonight. Do I watch that over made up tart Kaplinsky or do I listen to Keithy on WM ?

I'll answer next time!

Happy New Year all, & don't forget Mollie's back at 5am on Tuesday!
(She got a lot of praise on the Beech phone in too! Very Happy )

Well I listened to Keithy on NYE, on WM.

Listened to Mollie & informed her by text about the Beech phone in & everybody loved her, then my mobile started flashing.

Looked at the phone, which said 'Private Number', thought 'Oh s**t, she wants to talk to me!', then my nerve failed me & it went to 'Missed Call' !

I did mention by another text, that she'd had a 'clean bill of health'.

The 'fun' part came later.

She launched a competition, then wondered later why noone was taking part or getting the right answer.

She later realised, thanks in part to Jane France, that she'd been reading the question out wrong! Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

Tonight's MT brought us another new sports presenter, Ian Winter.

I guess he's come from another region(Norwich?), but wasn't he an ex WM sports editor about 10 - 15 years ago? (TVM?)

Also Phil 'The Power' Taylor, the darts player was an extra guest, plus Simon Keeling was doing the weather from by the big Brum Wheel.

*gasp* its almost as if you haven't read westy's post above!

by the way - i notice midlands today are doing "midlander of the year" - does this mean central aren't holding their annual midlander of the year competition this year?

Out of interest what's happened to the sports screen? The image has been almost slanting for quite a while, which can be seen quite clearly in the image above. Has the projector got knocked off centre or something.

I noticed last week when I had a look, that they were showing a BBC Birmingham film insert(One of those viewers things!) in the Black Country section.

Either they were short of material, or standards are starting to slip, which would be a shame IMO.

(Still prefer proper WM simulcast meself, but that's the fantasist in me! By the way is there any plans to put BBC Local Radio on SKY, seeing BBC London has recently set up shop on there within the capital SKY postcodes? (I think you can get it via 'Other Channels' outside the 'smoke' !))
