Crying or Very sad Hello Members !,

I am writing to ask the reason being why Central News East hasn't got a generic version of the ITV News backdrop behind the presenters like the other regions have?

Because CNeast has relocated to Birmingham, and have been squeezed into a fairly small amount of studio space there.

The back wall of the CN west set is not the back wall of the studio (the actual room of the building), so there is space behind the projection screen for (A) a projector, and (B) the appropraite "projection distance" between the screen and the projector itself.

As CNeast's studio in Brum is so tiny, there is not sufficient room for a projector and/or projection distance behind the back wall of the set, hence a big piece of cardboard in the metal frame originally intended to hold a projection screen.

Be thankful that they've at least incorporated a photo of Notts onto the cardboard. Meridian haven't bothered with, say, Southampton/Maidstone/Newbury photos on their cardboard backdrops - just blue squares *yawn*.

As ITV is set to lose is "four squares" motif on Jan 16th, I expect that CNeast will get a new cardboard backdrop, in which there are no squares superimposed over the photo of Notts. F*ck knows what Meridian will put on their new cardboard backdrops... Rolling Eyes

Did anybody watch MT tonight, with the whacking great 'BBC LONDON' logo on the screen at the very start?

(TVM - I bet the air was blue in the gallery ?)

Must admit I did wonder what happens if they didn't switch off N6 quickly enough !

That Slade singer sounds worse than Noddy Holder & that's saying something!

How come no comments on Janice Long joining WM then?

(Wonder how much stick she'll get over brother Keith ? I normally cringe everytime I see him & Blackburn on GMTV. The Clueless Brothers sounds right for them pair !)

Mike Rimmer in for Mollie this week, while she's off toy collecting. (I don't suppose she's coming to Walsall, is she? Correct me if I'm wrong, but we've only had Cayte this year, & that was at Bescot, which is a bit out of the way for the casual Walsall toy giver !)

Doolan is now dual nationality too.

Dickie Wilford's off to H&W Drivetime for a few months from January, according to the Evening Mail, correction Birmingham / Black Country Mail !

Some nice words from Jo Malin on the ITV NC's UK Today feature: "From everyone here in Birmingham, good luck to everyone who works on the News Channel - we're going to miss you"

In return, Felicity Barr complimented Jo on the Central News Christmas Tree.
