Onto telly now & MT's CIN contribution was Shefali & Simon live from CWR, plus an appearence from both Goldie & Franksy from the Mailbox public space.

(TVM, if you're reading this, can you pop up a pic of Goldie & Franksy next to one another, plus do you know tall Goldie & Franksy are? I think Franksy is over 6 foot, which must make Goldie 3 foot summat !)

goldy is about 5'4" ... franksey, well, hes ... very tall!

Onto the main show, & it was Ashley & Shefali in Coventry, plus Goldie & 'Linseed Oil' (Lindsey Doyle !) at the Mailbox.

I saw the panto opt out, & if I was Head Of Regional Progs, I'd be highly embarrassed. I'm a viewer & I was cringing!

Why don't they stick to interviewing Joe Public instead?

oh westy you do disappoint me! cin is all about a bit of camp friday night nonsense. i know i wouldn't tune in to watch a string of well meaning-yet-predictable middle aged women from the vision express branch in oldbury waving their novelty cheques. where as a live event running simultaneous to the london activities makes the proceedings feel far lass remote.

it would have been far safer for bbc mids to pre-record the panto - but they bravely decided to do the thing live. i thought simon keeling was absolutely fantastic - not only playing the starring role in the panto - but anchoring the opts before ashley arrived.

also nice of bbc mids to hold 2 separate simultaneous events - one at bbc cwr, but also one at the mailbox. lindsey doyles probably not the first name people would come up with in relation to cin - but she worked well with adrian

TVM, I'll agree to differ with you re the 'quality' of the panto, plus I need to rewatch the thing anyway & transfer the 'best bits' to DVD(the music items mainly) & wipe.

(Plus the company I work for were involved in CIN 2000, in fact one of our then directors took part in one of the stunts!)

bbc mids were slotting in the trailer in almost every junction last night on bbc one - and even slotting it into this morning's junctions, ive never seen so many regional trailers!

nick and suzanne plugged the service at the end of tonight's show, very much like the way the national news plugs news 24, i wonder whether they're going to continue to plug it at the end of programmes, or if its just for a while after the launch.

Well if anyone were to know the answer to that, it would be you TVM Laughing I liked the way the plugged it at the end of MT, and the trailers are quite good for regional made stuff.

Local TV project under fire

The BBC moved into the local TV market this week with the launch of a trial in the West Midlands.

Hmmm, seems the press thinks its crap. To be honest, I watched the same loop at 3pm today as I did at 5pm yesterday, they updated it later however, I wouldnt exactly call it a daily local TV station.

I suffered through Snoddy's horrid show this morning. What a load of crap the newspaper man was talking - his argument was clearly drivvel.

I don't even see why Newswatch exists - it has to invent problems with the news to actually exist.

Er Righto(spot the p*** take there!), WM's Les Ross was live from the NEC this morning, but not for Clothes Show Live, he went to the Model Railway Exhibition instead! Rolling Eyes

Mollie says she's off w/c 12/12, to assist with collecting for the Toy Appeal, in her big mobile home thing, like she was last year, but this time, so she says, she's not driving !

I'm sure she'll say where she's going, so if I hear it on air, I'll pass it on!
