There has been an Egypt exhibition at the Mailbox public space last week.
Bearing in mind, all these curses that get mentioned, any possible connection?
(They were having problems with the text service last week, which is nothing new! Always seems to happen to Mollie!)
Talking of things happening to Mollie, she's got a mention in tonight's Express & Star, due to her & other motorists being terrorised by a firework throwing carful of yobs, on the way home from a bonfire at Bromsgrove,(Wonder if Boyden was there too, seeing Bromsgrove is in his neck of the woods?), so she vented her spleen a bit this morning & it looks like it got picked up by the 'Star'!
Was there a slight audio cock up at the start of tonight's MT ?
New User - hello everyone...I think this thread should be retitled BBC WM/Mailbox love-in. Here's my attempt to redress the balance.
Central do more stories in Birmingham because that's where things happen. Not sure, but I think Midlands Today cover a wider area - like Herefordshire and Gloucestershire, so have to get around a bit more. I'm not sure how budget cutbacks would prevent them travelling up the motorway to Shropshire or Staffordshire.
Does anyone know when Central News South is to get the new revamped studio look. West and East were done ages ago, so what are they waiting for?
Would also like to say how good it was to see Anne Dawson back on screen for ITV50. She even did the link in to the local weather...like old times. It would be cool if she occassionally did some presenting...maybe when Hannah was on holiday. I suppose that wouldn't fit in with the new job.
As a new TVForumer it would be interesting to know how everone rates their 2 regional news shows.
Presenters: Central 8 BBC 6 -Bob is surely the no. 1 presenter in the Midlands - even if Suzanne is good. Emma Jessen beats Shefali
Reporters: Central 9 - BBC 6 - ITV hands downs. Central has some really good reporters who also have watchability factor - wheras the BBC's seem very 'local'
Look: Central 7 BBC 7: Central has the better set - the BBC have the better backdrop
General interaction: Central 7 BBC 8: but the BBC's is a bit cheesy - but Central seem too busy giving tickets away
Overall I prefer Central - mainly cos they do better stories and they've got the best on screen team.
WM Sunday/C&W Monday to Friday afternoon presenter Bob Brolly is in hospital after suffering a heart attack.
(Must admit, I've never listened to him, only saw him at a few BBC OB things, but get well soon Bob !)
Malcolm Boyden, who has been doing some cover work for work for Bob, as well as his Hereford & Worcester shifts, is taking over Saturday breakfast in Coventry.
Anyone in the Black Country get stuck in the traffic on Thursday morning?

Keith Middleton in for Brolly today, who's now back at home recovering.
(You can add your get well messages at a link on BBC WM's site, which links to a C&W page !)
Keith Middleton covering WM Saturday breakfast, according to the Express & Star. (Any bets on whether Danny Kelly does the Sunday show?)
Today's BBC WM CIN was scheduled to be the following presenters doing the following things : (Info mentioned by Mollie Green this morning!)
Mollie & Jane France were scheduled to be air hostesses, but that fell through for some reason.
Goldie was dressing up as an Egyptian (!)
Cayte Walker was doing her Anneka Rice impression & running around.
Doolan was doing some Gilbert & Sullivan stuff(opera, not that bloke with the perm from the 70's!)
Danny Kelly was being a stunt driver.
Franksy was being a bus conductor on a Travel West Midlands bus parked in Centenary Square, & he also had a surprise phone call from Blakey himself, Stephen Lewis, which gave Franksy the opputunity to do his own Blakey impersonation, as used on his Brekfast Show a few years back. (Oh my Gawd !!!)
Onto telly now & MT's CIN contribution was Shefali & Simon live from CWR, plus an appearence from both Goldie & Franksy from the Mailbox public space.
(TVM, if you're reading this, can you pop up a pic of Goldie & Franksy next to one another, plus do you know tall Goldie & Franksy are? I think Franksy is over 6 foot, which must make Goldie 3 foot summat !)
Onto the main show, & it was Ashley & Shefali in Coventry, plus Goldie & 'Linseed Oil' (Lindsey Doyle !) at the Mailbox.
I saw the panto opt out, & if I was Head Of Regional Progs, I'd be highly embarrassed. I'm a viewer & I was cringing!
Why don't they stick to interviewing Joe Public instead?

oh westy you do disappoint me! cin is all about a bit of camp friday night nonsense. i know i wouldn't tune in to watch a string of well meaning-yet-predictable middle aged women from the vision express branch in oldbury waving their novelty cheques. where as a live event running simultaneous to the london activities makes the proceedings feel far lass remote.
it would have been far safer for bbc mids to pre-record the panto - but they bravely decided to do the thing live. i thought simon keeling was absolutely fantastic - not only playing the starring role in the panto - but anchoring the opts before ashley arrived.
also nice of bbc mids to hold 2 separate simultaneous events - one at bbc cwr, but also one at the mailbox. lindsey doyles probably not the first name people would come up with in relation to cin - but she worked well with adrian
here's that report from a few weeks ago - celebrating one year since the move from pebble mill. notice tony blair on the sofa with nick, the infamous woman peering through the glass and when the comic relief balloon popped during the weather giving shefali a fright!
Don't you think it was wonderful that most of those events featured in the One Year at the Mailbox report have been reported in great detail RIGHT HERE in the Midlands thread.
