I don';t understand why has the MT set changed?? and moved location within Pebble Mill??
The set hasn't exactly changed, it's just that they've only taken part of the usual set down to the Pebble Mill Conservatory Studio (only the desk, sofa, and red carpet (the wooden-looking flooring's there anyway), and haven't taken any of the old studio set's wall, or the "window" ). Oh, and they've obviously got a few plasma screens, and a CSO thingy for the weather.
I'd thought they wanted to free-up the current sofa and/or desk for "piloting" at the mailbox studio. But, seeing as the Conservatory set has actually got those items of furniture moved into it, the move does seem a bit inexplicable.
They must have needed to free-up something from the studio set, for Mailbox "piloting" - maybe the lighting? Or the "window" plasma?

Central News crashed spectacularly this morning on GMTV, with the sound burbling like a bad dab signal and a still of Arati's face kept coming on and off like some subliminal message.
They gave up by the next bulletin and the default GMTV logo and 1993 music were left running.

Could be nothing to do with the Mailbox piloting, and more to do with the requirement to start removing stuff from Pebble Mill to close it ?

Just a thought.
lease is up on december 31st. cant see what stuff they could remove by decamping to the conservatory 3 weeks ahead of the move?
i've been told it was so they can modify the current set in time for the move.
Does Radio Nottingham have a similar problem, because besides footy coverage, they also have an Asian show on Fridays between 7 & 10pm?
All East Midland stations do their own thing on Friday between 7 and 10.
Granted yes, but the point of my original question was WM, when they handled both the regional Late Show, & did their own footy coverage at the same time, the Late Show presenters used to keep apologising to the people waiting on air, for having to hear the WM footy coverage while waiting!
Does Radio Nottingham have the same problem, now they also do the regional Late Show & opt out themselves for their own programming?
A brief summary of yesterday(Friday). I went up the Mailbox, waved to Danny Kelly through the glass, plus saw Doolan & Chinnie walking through the public space.
Franksy's show had an interview with Joan Rivers, plus what appeared to be an interview with Sir Jimmy Saville, as it was his birthday.
If you listened to the interview, you would've noticed a lot of 'Savillisms', which led one texter to ask 'Is that the real one?'
Personally I think Franksy got Shane O'Connor(his old sidekick at Brekky) to do a 'Saville', because I remember Shane doing 'Saville' on the show, along with Franksy doing 'Blakey' from 'On The Buses' !
Gaunt full of it as usual today. He was majoring on the 20 year old single mother of 6 story.
He wasn't happy that people kept connecting this & the asylum seekers together !
I must say, I've been able to listen to full time Gaunt down here on BBC Radio London...and for some reason seems slightly better down here. Perhaps its just the whole style of the station and the callers that get through.
Am still not a big fan, and will usually chose LBC and James O'Brien...but will still listen in occasionally in the name of research...
A while ago, there was some discussion here re: Why is the 3pm weekday CNwest still coming fron the CSO/virtual set, now that CiTV ain't in Brum?
Well, I've had a thought...
What time is UK Today on the ITV News Channel? I ask because, if it's the 3pm regional bulletins that are used as the source material for UK Today, this may be the reason for CNwest@3pm using the virtual set.
After all, the size of the "screen" on the wideshot is much bigger than the plasmas on the real set, therfore the CN branding is more prominent.
Also, on the usual single presenter shot in the real set has just the "window" of Brum in the background, and no CN logo at all. Whereas on the virtual set there is "Central News" written in the top right corner, above the presenter's left shoulder.
So, perhaps they do the 3pm bulletin from the CSO/virtual set, so that the CN name gets seen on UK Today?
nice look around the mailbox just then on points of view - although they amazingly managed to keep the midlands today (empty) studio out of shot in every link.
nice of the beeb to give bbc birmingham a bit of self promotion ... although it may just be because bbc birmingham make the show hehehe.
