Back to the point anyway.

It wouldn't be so bad if they had the current set placed infront of the window overlooking the newsroom, i.e. taking the current set yet without the walls.

Or maybe just taking out part of it, and have it as a window within the current set, so that the set continues round to the weather wall.

What would be better is a rear projection screen that could be used for graphics and as the chromakeying background for the weather (like GMTV does, or used to with the news).

Though it would have been nice to have a whole new set, oh well.
Red, white with a lot of metal!
Maybe even a smaller version of the main BBC News desk, saving the sofa for midlands today, or is the studio smaller than i've made out?

Plus did they play out a trailer for the new look or something at the end of tonights midland's today? I'd just come down stairs, sat down and my mother had the TV on in the kitchen when I heard Nick and Suzanne say goodbye, the usual music then seconds later the BBC LDN, well now London music.

Will Midlands Today be taking this music?

Well today was the 40th birthday of Midlands Today, and Kay presented at luch time by making her mark that she had presented for most of the years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - She mentioned Alan Towers as her main co presenter.

Then tonight Nick and Susan introduced a 40th Midlands Today report that in TRUE Pebble Mill style was out of Lip/Pic…..Not a great situation but Nick then went onto mention all the names of the Pebble Mill presenters/….. Alan Towers, Sue, Diane,…………

I don't think so. You know what like MT are like with opts-in and -outs of the 6!

Very Happy g.dyke <-- This is my new end post thing . . . and I'm glad if you have reason to believe that it or I am pointless.

Bit of WM news now(seeing I'm on hols at the mo!)

Doolan Show 28/9 - Cayte Walker sent out, to help report on 2 incidents, a fatal fire in Tipton, plus a fatal railway accident in the Cannock area.
There was a transmission fault, on 95.6fm at least, with clicking & cutting out, around 1230pm.

Doolan Show 29/9 - Doolan reckons he saw a ghost at home! He knows he has a ghost cat (!)
Many p**take e-mails & texts appeared during the show, due to this !

Goldberg 29/9 - One of the text competitions, involved Jade Goody writing her bio at 23 (!), so Goldie asked for 'shortest book titles', & some wag came up with 'My radio career by Adrian Goldberg' !

Re MT, out of curioscity, why does the VT go out of synch? I thought everything(vision & sound) was on the original / transmission tape anyway, so it shouldn't happen surely?

I didn't spot the opt at 7pm, for this Asian sport thing they're showing. Obviously someone was awake!

Is it me, or did they keep quiet about this opt, because I only noticed yesterday.

It even got listed in the main listings for the Daily Mail TV mag, with 'Ground Force' relagated to 'BBC1 England' footnote.

The WM mag is now out, according to Franksy.

I must track down a copy!

Listened into Boyden last night on Hereford & Worcester, & he's made a good start.

Even one of his old callers appeared on air too!

Funny to see the cock up on the ITN news earlier, when they went back to Bob to recap on the stories, he just sat there more interested in the newspaper on his lap, taking far too long to notice he was on air!

in terms of new mt titles - very much like the current ones, with different clips - although the men with football clip remains. there is only 1 mailbox clip.

music is now LDN and the "midlands today" bit is still on the red-orange-yellow bkg.

i'm quite glad they're not using the look north/ldn red at the end of the titles!

WM 30/9 - Tom Manners Early Show, sitting in for Mollie Green - I'm surprised I woke up for, bearing in mind I'm off this week!

He's still playing that b***dy 'Game Of Chance', complete with cheesy voiceover!

(You had to smile Rolling Eyes , when he gave out his e-mail address. ('Tom.Manners@bbc.co.uk, as in good or bad, or Sarah! Sarah being his sister of course!)

Fell asleep at 7am(obviously Goldie was that good!), & woke up at 1030am, to catch Doolan talking to Greg Dyke, who was promoting his book, then signing copies outside in the public space at the Mailbox.

Doolan also had, I believe, some guy on representing the vets(I think), complaining about 'The Farm' & certain surgical procedures, which the celebs are probably not allowed to do, on fear of prosicution.

(I'm not gonna discuss it further, because firstly I didn't hear all the conversation & secondly, this is more a topic for the Lounge IMO !)

Doolan's team was also trying to find someone from Channel 5 to talk to as well.

The lovely Cayte Walker was continuing her quest, to find who had accessible shopping centres, popping up today in West Bromwich & Halesowen, due to some disability access rule starting 1/10.

Halesowen, being on a hill, didn't score very highly, but the Cornbow shopping centre scored (One person Cayte spoke to, was unaware of the new rule, & 'decided' to contact the Citizens Advice Bureau, as a result!)

Doolan's 'pet' holiday expert, Ros Fernihough, also came in to take calls.

On a brighter note, one of Doolan's 'women', Laura May McMullen, one of the journo's at WM, has given birth to a little boy!

Doolan says he's taking a week off next week, so Trish Adudu(or Adon'tdon't! I know cheap joke! Rolling Eyes ) is standing in from Sunday all week, apart from Doolan coming in for 11am on Sunday, to do 'The Other Side Of' , yes you've guessed it, Trish Adudu!

The following Sunday 3/10, Nick Owen is coming for a chat (I assume the BBC one, to please Katherine!), plus there might be a book involved too!(Can't remember for sure!), plus 'The Other Side Of Tony & Julie' !

Danny Kelly Show - He had a competition, to guess how he has put his back out. The answer, as correctly guessed by an on air caller, was sniffing !

Terry Wogan was filming for this week's POV, outside the studios, & Danny was threatening to get him, to put some Deep Heat onto his back, live on air, which he refused to do! (Another dig at the 'rumour' that Wogan wears a wig as well!) Danny then got a member of the public, to slap it on instead!

Claire Rayner was interviewed at the NEC as well.

(One thing not to do apparantly, is touch a sensitive area of the body, while you have Deep Heat on your hands!

I sent in a text, along with other people, after he asked for songs to describe his predicament. A popular one was 'Dicka Dum Dum', plus I also threw in 'Hot Hot Hot' too !)

I've now got a copy of the new WM magazine & here are the 'highlights' ! :

Picture of Tony Butler on the cover, looking 'mean & moody' !

Interviews with Bob Brolly, Sally James & 'Herr Flick' himself, Keith Beech.

Pics of WM's move to the Mailbox.

Chinnie in Romania.

The Sports team have a makeover, courtesy of Hugo Boss at the Mailbox! (The pic on page 31, a poor man's version of Pulp Fiction IMO Laughing

Chinnie's schooldays, including a dodgy pic !

Some 'hot' pics of travel presenter Punam Verma on page 35.

A page on the WM shops.

A feature on Sport Relief & the Wolverhampton Marathon & WM Action.

I heard it. That's why I was under the impression that it was a promotion.

When's the start date from the Mailbox?
