New BBCi 10 o'clock News Interactive on Freeview

And very nice it is too! (Also on Sky/Cable) (October 2004)

Can't find this mentioned, but last Friday on Freeview, an additional BBCi News Multiscreen service was testing on page 702.

The service had a red-strip on the left third of the screen, with a 4:3 feed from News 24 on it. The right two-thirds were white, with a feed of the BBC News Multiscreen playback service. To switch from the News 24 audio, you had to use your set-top-box audio function.

Looked quite nice too!

Anyone know what's going on - is a new News Multiscreen service on it's way?

Most people have suggested that this was a test for the new Ten Interactive service coming soon.

I noticed a rather nice thing on 702 i think it was the other day, it seemed like an interactive feed only it was fullscreen with a miniscreen in it, mainly an animated background with small video on the top left and a sort of bbci thing trying to load but failing then going black, unless u change channel and came back.

Has it started on Sky tonight or not? It's not on Freeview because of Spooks Interactive...

It's not on NTL either, though it is billed in the Radio Times to be on Digital and it has been confirmed to be on all Digital services.

Why do the BBC feel the need to include this in their report...

Quote:
ITV was currently unavailable for comment and Sky News declined to comment on the service.

Why would they?

maybe the journalist was asked to submit x amount of words on the new service, and included that to pad it out at the end. I'm suprised the sub-editor didn't edit that bit out really, because it adds nothing to the depth of the report.

Wow! I'm really suprised by the amount of graph information they've squeezed into it!

I'm very impressed.
