New BBC South East Set

I hope so - but the video on the SET Facebook page showing the progress of the new set/studio alterations said they were planning to launch in the Autumn. That video was meant to be part of a series but there haven't been any others since that was published a few weeks back.

Polly was flying solo last night too.

No doubt they'll be replacing their actual newsroom backdrop with a fake one, seems silly given they are one of the view Regions with the luxury of having a newsroom view - especially since it'll be supposed to mirror the National news set in some way.

Am I right in thinking that also they are the last region to still have a 'live' newsroom backdrop?

Scotland could have one if they open the big stage door to their studio as it opens out onto the newsroom the 'The Street'.

It's definitely going, the video clip on Facebook showed the glass wall being boarded up. So technically - they were the last region to have a live newsroom backdrop!

The weekend bulletins have also ended into the titles instead of the wide shot. Anyone know why they've ditched the wide shot and instead just use the titles?

Probably just the preference of the director for that bulletin, along with how much time is left. I know Reporting Scotland can end in a few ways:

*with credits overlayed on a wide shot, then the credits are replaced by the BBC Scotland symbol.
*with credits overlayed on a wide shot, then the credits are replaced by the BBC News logo.
*wide shot pulling away to screen, fade to endcap graphic
*zoom out of close up of presenter, fade to endcap graphic.

If running light, and the programme has a decent director, they'll get the presenters to do the whole "you can like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitte...we are back after the News at ten...goodnight" whilst cuing some B-roll from the days news on a studio monitor and then fading to the shot that has the monitor in it.

The new set launches next Monday.

Looks quite nice, but can't believe they're using the same desk!

Well.. it is close enough to the current design, they'd have saved the money on the desk and used it elsewhere. Rosta looks higher quality than Scotland's.

There will be new title music too, but similar titles! Just different shots.

Oh that's exciting. Shame the titles can't be changed slightly. I don't really know why there wasn't an attempt to roll-out the NWT titles to give them a refresh.
