New BBC Singapore studio

I thought that splitting it from the main thread might be nice... (July 2015)

The list of standing presenter shows has just had Newsday on the list now. What other bulletin shows feature standing presenters besides business? I come to think of Global, Impact (although mostly just during intros), (Focus on Africa?), GMT (Intros).

Does anyone like the new headlines recap (botton of the hour) of Newsday? It seems to have the headlines superimposed using an Arial-like font.

I do agree that with someone mentioning earlier it's a little hard to watch the presenter and nothing else at times. Wish there could be some news graphics being added to the screen.

Most shows/bulletins do, World News Today does all the time and the overnight simulcasts do occasionally

In the last video, it's almost like Aaron Heselhurst has been drafted into Singapore to make Rico Hizon more energetic!

What seems to jar a little for me is that headline sequence. Why is the story about a British banker being read from Singapore and the story about floods in Asia being read from London?

If you're not going to play to the unique format by having the UK-based stories read from London and the Asian ones from Singapore, you might as well not bother with the double header and present from London.

The beeps on ABR are Newsround esque.

Is it too complicated for Singapore to have an iPad as well as London?

I think the iPad is doing a different job to the controller Rico is holding. There controller is operating the Autocue, which would be awkward to do from an iPad whilst in vision.

I suspect Babita's iPad is the equivalent of the PC under the desk. - ENPS and possibly social media, with the Autocue being controlled from the gallery.

Singapore has the old fashioned paper though too. Perhaps there is no possibility of combining the two functions or it's hard to hold an iPad and controller!

With the very colourful graphics of Newsday, I begin to feel the standard bulletin graphics has become rather dull. Will they make over the graphics for standard bulletins some day?

I like that the new Singapore studio is able to fit more than one guest now on the desk. It used to be only one guest at a time. I hope we can get discussion specials or interviews being done from Singapore.

I notice the lighting from the catwalk in Singapore is rather dark especially if the presenter is facing the window side. Does the studio lighting or monitor brightness get affected by daylight from the window?

The reason for the colourfulness with Newsday, I believe, is because it's supposed to be aimed at a morning audience. The standard bulletins on the BBC are fine in my opinion and I don't think they need to be changed for a long time. They don't need to be CNN, which makes one think they change their graphics on annual basis (needlessly). Al Jazeera hasn't changed their standard bulletin titles or music in almost nine years! They aren't dull to me even for such a long period of time.

I like the loop music they put on ABR whilst Rico makes his way into position.
