New BBC Singapore studio

I thought that splitting it from the main thread might be nice... (July 2015)

The graphics in Singapore are faded on and off via a DSK on the mixer. There are animated graphics available, and a locator, however it is a change in workflow that would be one step too far for the limited staff in Singapore, at least for now. The graphics themselves are generated differently in Singapore (using CasparCG) to London (using VizRT).

So CasparCG is taking hold Smile

Is it integrated with BigTed?

The new Newsday looks amazing but two minor changes would be nice in my opinion.
Not that I could watch them here in the Americas but I think the BOTH headlines could do without the music while the headlines are read. And personally, I'm not a big fan of BOTH headlines including 'trending' stories. Of course, I'm not saying Cilla Black shouldn't have been included, my fear is that a trending story that's not newsworthy might be included in the future.
They could adjust the split screen by making the video feeds flat.

I'm glad Newsday is getting some attention. It's got a great global feel, the content is interesting, the pace is good, and the team upbeat. I love the new music (and the Asian influence in it), and the titles are good too - might take a little getting used to after so much BBC News output being based on a white background with coloured globe. I like the short, quick Singapore-London intro back from the 'break' at :15 past the hour and think this would probably do fine at the top of the hour too.

One thing I'm not that keen on is the framing of this shot. I know there were some over-the-shoulder graphics at points, but there seem to be some extended periods it is being used with Babita speaking to the camera and it's hard to watch:

Also, why is BBCNewsAsia Twitter getting plugged? Are they not allowed a Newsday account?

Despite the BBC World references in the x30 heads at 0030, I was glad to see Babita then link into Hardtalk with BBC News after WN went their own way.

From my observation, the new colour scheme shares a lot of similarities with Impact. The extensive use of orange being one case in point. The label "Newsday" above the ticker is now set against an orange backdrop like Impact too.

Asia Business Report being presented from the catwalk is a very refreshing upgrade, with the presenter gaining the ability to walk about and point out footage on the multi-screen display.

I think the labelling of "Singapore" and "London" is somewhat overused. Each time they transition from one studio to the other, the screen keeps shouting London/Singapore and it seems rather annoying.

Is the new format going to have the London presenter standing always? It seems Babita stands throughout the show.

Glad Singapore finally has a new set up, looks good although that bottom red/brown bit under screens on platform looks too high so Rico looks quite dwarfed.

The music and titles are cool, I like the vo with the sequence. London backdrop is really nice but they need to frame Babita in the middle.

They had a Persicope tour of the bureau.

From the periscope video they also mention Talking Business coming from Singapore this week - the way they worded it as a 'new show' made it sound like the programme's base would be in Singapore again, but I thought it was on rotation between four locations now?

The ending is awkward though. Babita standing in the middle of the set saying good bye and then camera just staying on her. Would be better if we had a fade with wide shots of both sets.

One thing i did note was the Singapore studio has a noticable echo. I have literally zero knowledge when it comes to sound recording so this is probably wrong, but it surely cant be helped by the windows and lack of any soft surfaces. London dont seem to have the same problem, although you can hear footsteps.
