Ted Koppell apparently announced his retirement from Nightline earlier this year.

The current editor of Nightline is a Brit who used to work on (edit?) Tonight with Trevor McDonald I believe - and thus worked with Martin Bashir on this.

ABC showed the documentary/interview with Michael Jackson. Steve Goldston is now the head of Nightline after coming from Tonight With McDonald.

Terry Moran and Cynthia McFadden are also in the running for the job.

I think Charlie Gibson has been doing a good job - though I also think he's great on GMA with Diane and Robin.

Very difficult act to follow though.
