Maybe because he didn't get the editor job he's decided to move onto other things? Speculation but you never know.

I don't think there's much doubt about that …

ITN have a vacancy for their China Correspondent. I wonder if Angus Walker could be in line to replace Bill Neely. Or perhaps he is part of a wider reshuffle of the foreign correspondents?

Or potentially could he even be an outside title for the Business Editor role? according to his TV Newsroom biography, he's had a spell as a Business producer. He then was a Political Correspondent; which was the field that Laura and Daisy McAndrew as Economics Editor came from into their financial journalist roles. He then obviously has recently been China Correspondent, which will have at some points involved covering financial stories given the economy of the County. They could even move Richard Edgar over to Business Editor and give Angus economics editor.

Mere speculation of course, but stranger things have happened.

For the International Editor, I'm unsure. The obvious forerunners would be James Mates and John Irvine because of their extensive experience. Possibly, John Ray may be considered. There's also the option of promoting younger talent such as Angus or Geraint Vincent, but whether they have the required experience would obviously need to be considered.

You could well be right about the Business Editor job. My guess would be that John Irvine is the front runner, but another possibility is Robert Moore, who I think was Diplomatic Editor some years ago. Other possibilities must be Tim Marshall from Sky or Justin Webb if, as rumour has it, he leaves the Today Programme.

I'm going to throw another name into the ring and say Martin Geissler as a maybe for International Editor, but has has got as much experience as say James and Angus?

Some rather undignified tweets today from Bill Neely about how superior ITV News is over the BBC. All the more ironic when you consider it was retweeted by Laura K and both get and Bill are jumping ship!

Oor Martin??? Wink

What about Rageh Omaar? Isn't he now employed by ITN in some capacity? If so, he could also be a prime candidate, given his relatively wide International News experience?

Probably only an outside chance of this hapenning, but Dan Rivers? Certainly has a strong background in international news

Angus announced on Twitter on Wednesday that he is leaving ITV News, relocating to Sweden for a new job...another one bites the dust.

That's a surprise. ITN are losing some of their best reporters and editors right now, and it really feels like the end of an era in a sense.

I think Robert Moore might be a favourite now to take over as International Editor, but probably still based in Washington.

Rageeh Omar might become a Senior International Correspondent, a kind of deputy editor, maybe with particular responsibility towards Africa and Asia, working alongside Rohit and the others in the area.
