This set change symbolises quite a lot. Deborah Turness led the refresh when the set went darker and very old fashioned. A number of press articles have relit the rumour flames that she is being sidelined. Bringing back the white fresh continental European style suggests Turness now has very little say over the bigger strategy. Rumour has it Turness will be made to focus on the elections then she will get the push. These little changes seem to hint that it's true.

Not quite sure that works first thing in the morning - way to bright. Also think white sets tend to date quite quick.

I don't think Deborah Turness had any involvement in the sets direction. She took over in August 2013 and the set launched in September. She probably had very little say in the matter.

Actually on camera it doesnt come across the same as still photography. I think it looks pretty decent. As pre-2013 had a very "white" bright set. I still dont under stand the rostrum and the "angular design" it think this refresh turned out quite good. I do understand the oddity of the blue chair but against the window backdrop against which it will be shot it goes together well. I still think the video "ribbons" above and around the anchor desk is OTT.

I don't get it. Clinical & modern, then you go throw in a couple of random blue chairs that wouldn't look out of place in an old folks home. Some weird juxtaposition going on here.

Yeah I guess you're right but most of us arent set designers or decorators. It looked fine on telly. But it think it would have looked odd with orange chairs or white chairs...Oh well. I guess blue was the next best option, I dont have a problem with the blue, but they are a modern take on a traditional shape though.

Here is a link to the the time lapse makeover. They actually ripped up the entire floor.
