It’s entirely possible it will be included in the NBC Sky World News branding, but it almost certainly won’t be in Sky News’ rebranding

And if it is, then I think the next rebranding will see the NBC Peacock being added.

As I say. I don’t think the Peacock in it’s current form will be allowed anywhere near Sky. But I could modernised version of that identity (similar to what Peacock uses) might be applied to both Sky and NBC channels at some point in the future in the way they attempted to shoehorn the Walmart logo onto Asda’s branding until they decided they were going to sell it a few months later.

ASDA wasn't sold, as such, it was simply restructured into a subsidiary company - but I take the point that there was no point including the Walmart branding after that change.

In the same way, I can't see Comcast/NBCU wanting to confuse the Sky brand in Europe by including the peacock emblem.

Why not just rebrand Sky News as NBC altogether? There's no reason why it can't be the National Broadcasting Company for the UK Razz

Except its a virtually unknown brand here, whereas everyone knows what Sky is

I'm being facetious!

FT reporting tonight that the channel has been scrapped.

Staff to be consulted on what to do.

Interesting to see what they do with that other studio. But a shame we will never see this come to pass.

Hope they continue to invest in international bureau they had planned.

yes unfortunate indeed. Had it started a year ago it might now find an audience. Now it’s too late. Also a lot of its focus was supposed to be on environmental issues (including a daily programme on such issues) which of course has completely slipped down/off the agenda now.

Wouldn’t be surprised if they scrapped it entirely. It had all the hallmarks of a money pit, and the outlay must be hard to justify at present.

Agree, that's what I interpreted the NBC comment in a previously posted article to mean:
“When things become more clear, when we get to the other side of this crisis, we’ll review all these plans,” Lack said.

It's very non-committal.

Well Lack is gone now. I don’t think he would have the say on the overall. It likely would be higher up than him or Comcast.

They have hired a lot of new hires around the world. I think it will still go ahead.

I’m afraid this channel was dead as a dodo as soon as COVID hit- as i suggested months ago- though it wasn’t confirmed until 0930 this morning (UK)
