NBC News, MSNBC, CNBC, NBC affiliates and TODAY

I wouldn't be surprised if the TOTH sequence of the BBC News national bulletins are on pre-taped and then sent to live.

Sometimes on CNN (even CNNi), interview segments are taped before the programme goes on air and they insert them seamlessly in between the live segments. The only obvious clue that it was taped is when they remove the timepieces on the top of the screen.

Going back to NBC, those pre-taped segments will not matter for west coast audiences where the entire newscast airs on tape-delay anyway (save for late-breaking news after the 19.00 ET hour).

I believe it's not live, but recorded after GMA. I think affiliates in the Eastern half of the country have the option to air it at 12pm or 1pm ET.

I think those in the Western half have the choice of whether to air at 12pm or 1pm locally, depending on what their local news schedule is.

Did NBC News move its bureau or did they just close the old one down to refurbish this studio? And how about NBC's Washington station?

WRC and its Telemundo sister station are staying where they are, and may benefit from additional space once the facility is completely renovated.

Facility is SMPTE 2110 and built to be completely IP. One full control room on 8th floor, however, most of control still comes from NYC facility.

NBC does top quality everything for the most part. The lighting is their claim to fame. It ALWAYS looks top quality and it can help any dogs dinner set. This set is definitely not my favourite. Its out of character for NBC News. BUT its presented very well. NBC always does a great job of mixing in modern set pieces into heritage spaces. (A prime example on this set is the blood red Queen Anne style anchor desk, with inset backlit logo in white and the clear plexiglass top). The main NBC newsroom at 30 Rock is prime example of that. With its exposed brick and modern elements.
This set re-created an old timey look. That's probably what I dont like about it. It was unnecessary. They could have and should have gone modern. But for what it is, it looks brilliant. Its bright, even though its a dark-ish blue. The video walls look great and not washed out like SkyNews. (They need to get some lighting people over to the UK to fix that or swap out those videowalls.) The MTP set It has that NBC News sparkle (hard to explain). But you know its NBC. While its certainly not something I expect from NBC, for any other broadcaster its very well done.

Network and MSNBC production control rooms are not automated. Unfortunately with the move they got rid of the camera operators.

Also the vision mixer is made up of old stripe panels from else where and different kinds of transition paddles. It’s connected using IP but I guess rather than buying a new control surface they used existing ones.

The control room on 8 is using a Sony MVS-8000 chassis with the guts of a Sony 7000 inside.

I wonder if he'll get the weekend edition of Nightly News - currently split between two anchors, Kate Snow and José Díaz-Balart.

I home they don't replace JDB, I like him and believe he does well. Along with the face Caesar Conde came from Telemundo may help keep him there.


That’s odd, I’d figure they’re just using old panels or an older chassis with IP compatible blades. Because if they used an MVS—7000 they’d have to convert every IP signal to HD-SDI and back again. I kind of figured they got a new chassis but had enough panels laying around (30 Rock had a new control rooms built or upgraded in 2018-2019) they didn’t need to order a new one.

Newscaststudio have now featured the new NBC DC studios and it’s no big surprise that it’s another outstanding Clickspring design.

They do love those red chairs at Clickspring. I can count four channels now featuring said chairs. CNN, BBC DC, NBC and NEWSNATION.

If you read the story closely, Clickspring is not mentioned once.

The studio was by HD Studio, which is a former Clickspring employee who left like 5 years ago.
