I really like Mark Simpson, excellent correspondent whatever the subject matter, and always seems to inject a bit of humour when needed. He's been picked up by the bosses obviously and brought across from Ireland for some more exposure on our screens. He's on N24 and the Six quite a lot. (Interestingly yesterday he was back in Ireland, did a 2-way on N24 from the Belfast bureau and the caption read 'Ireland Correspondent' - perhaps Dennis Murray is on holiday and they've sent him back to fill in?
As a point aside, how many North Of England correspondents are there? I count Caroline Marsden, Kevin Bocquet, Mark Simpson, Danny Savage, Richard Wells, John Thorne, Judith Moritz and I'm sure there are more?

And, yet, there are only about three Scotland correspondents

I think that the reason for there being so many reporters who can be classified as "North of England Correspondent" is because they are based out of at least 3 BBC offices (Manchester, Leeds, Newcastle). Out of interest, does anyone know why on the main BBC One news bulletins, they always seem to be called "News Correspondent"?
He should have picked up on something I read in the paper that morning: that she is giving tap water to the guests at her wedding! Somehow, "Princess" doesn't come to mind.
