Was tonight her last broadcast?

Dermot spoke as if it was in the closing goodbyes tonight.

Best bit of news we've had on the Six for absolutely ages.

I thought she might have made it through to November to make it to five years but maybe not.

As others have said, she's obviously gone because of the money as Five News won't be a step up compared to presenting every other programme on BBC1. Plus, she obviously likes being in the spotlight, hosting Five News which hardly anybody watches is not going to continue this

I wonder who BBC1 will get to present all those generic live shows she hosts, Children in Need, New Year Live etc

My fear, no not fear but added annoyance is that it probably won't just be the news she is on on five. Kirsty Young , Andrea Catherwood, Katie Ledger all did a bit on the side ( which karplinski is known for ) Wink with some documentaries. The mind boggles at what she sort of other show she could be a presenter of.

I’m very surprised at today’s announcement. Natasha’s the type of person who loves exposure - and she got plenty of exposure at the BBC. As well as presenting the news, she also presented many entertainment shows like Strictly Come Dancing and Children in Need. But at Five I don’t think she’s going to get the same amount of exposure she’s had at the Beeb over the past five years. I’d even go as far to say that in five year’s time it wouldn’t surprise me if people don’t have a clue who she is. I reckon money was what made her move. Anyway, good luck to her.

To be fair, when Darren Jordan left didn't he leave a month after resigning? And we don't know how long the beeb/ kaplinsky/ five have known about Kapinsky's departure, and the way they've publicised it today...

In fact, maybe they've known for a while:

- Delayed the evening bulliten (who'll present it now???)
- Moved Louise to mornings
- Kate and Jane seem to have disappeared

any ideas?

I think anita mcveigh(the quiet low profiler)might take over joanna mon-thur 7-10 with martine croxall on the fri-sun and maybe kate silverton on the one,sian/george on the six and (after meternity leave) sophie and fiona on the ten.

Just watched the six on Online player and I would have said Natasha has definately left now. I dont think they're reverting to a single presenter on the six as they surely would have made it public (ie BBC press).

So will they get Sian or someone to cover from next week or will they try lots of people out?

With regards to Sophie I doubt she's leaving as her husband is an estage agent. While estate agents probably make a lot more than any of us, it would be a huge salary drop. Then again, would Sophie want to move to being a deputy anchor of something (like Fiona on the one, sophie on the ten or something?)

It actually touched me seeing her sign off, and as she's taking a long time off before joining five!

When does Matt join Five? Has he now left? Is Alyson Benducravi (???) joining BBC London?

Do you mean Alice Bandecravi?

She has been presenting various BBC London bulletins over the last couple of months.

I didn't expect this at all and it seems strange to move to Five as there is relatively little exposure compared to the BBC, although I'd suspect that the money that Five are offering is far better than that of the BBC.

Now, when you add that Sophie is going on maternity leave, I'd expect a return to single headed national bulletins such as the below:

Breakfast - Bill Turnbull and Sian Williams (Mon-Thu) Charlie Stayt and Susannah Reid (Fri-Sun)
One - Fiona Bruce
Six - Dermot Murnaghan
Ten - Huw Edwards
Cover - George Alagiah

Edit - Just to add it does appear from the end of the Six tonight (I watched it again online) that this could have been her last bulletin. Nice to see the old Breakfast team together, though - Dermot and Natasha with Carol on weather. All we would need would be Rob Bonnett on sport.

I hope Sian gets the Six, and Kate gets the Breakfast spot, as I like her. Seriously, I think they should get rid George Alagiah, and replace him with Dermot. They're a great pair, and would be good for the Six.
