You are getting ahead of yourself there and making presumptions of a BM11 scale.

I don't think it will lead to her being sacked or resigning in direct relation to the incident, but it's done wonders for her profile which could lead to other opportunities. At the beginning of the week I wouldn't have thought GMB would have any interest in poaching her (or indeed anyone else) from Breakfast - now she comes across as someone who would very much make a mark there and be perfect for the tail end of the week.

Arguably, Naga Munchetty was already well known before this furore erupted given the viewership for BBC Breakfast and her participation in Strictly a few years ago.

However, yes, itv will no doubt be getting out their chequebook. Probably for I'm a Celebrity in the first instance, followed by Good Morning Britain in 2020. A very predictable path that the BBC could have totally avoided here.

For the record the issue was reported on Breakfast itself this morning, at around 07:10, and (as usual) NewsWatch (which was 100% consumed by event) was shown within the programme at 07:45

Jon Kay and Nina Warhurst were the presenters this morning

They also discussed it as part of the Saturday newspaper review.

Naga said Trump was racist ..... that complaint was NOT upheld....
It is a generally accepted fact ..
But her putting forward opinions was a breach of BBC guidelines ..

In most outlets I have not hear the phrase " partially upheld" to describe the decision of the committee .

You'd think she was fired or burned at the stake at this point. The overreaction is ridiculous but then again what else would you expect today.

Carrie Gracie has tweeted some more, trying to make herself center of the story again. Was #IStandWithCarrie ever even a thing? Rolling Eyes

A little more intelligence was needed before hitting 'submit'. Yes of course, 100% the Carrie Gracie 'thing' you refer to was a big deal. It was a game-changing era. I suggest you do a little more research before suggesting that Carrie Gracie is trying to make herself centre stage. That is an appalling accusation.

The Naga situation is just as important if not more important in the times we are currently living in.

Was Naga trying to make herself 'centre stage' when she tweeted this support of her co-worker?

NO! She was not!

Please elaborate so we can all understand your post, and furthermore so that it really contributes to this thread.

Carrie Gracie is rather wonderful, genuine and unassuming. Shes also a talented presenter.

Retreading old ground but the China editor role is simply not on a par with the Washington role, whoever is in that position.

The BBC itself have just made a complete hash of this - if they'd announced first the main crux of the complaint hadn't been upheld and left whatever element they have upheld as a footnote it might have been reported quite differently. Now though they just seem to keep digging - coming across now as "Of course Trump is racist, but Naga isn't allowed an opinion on that." They still don't grasp it is not an opinion based issue - whether talking about Trump or her own past Naga was talking about the facts of racism, not her opinion on it.
