god, doesn't anna ford look awful nowadays, must admit, haven't watched the lunch time news for a while, but i think it's time she gave up the throne for somebody else a lot less wooden.

Just caught the end of the news.
Here's another cap from the end of the programme.

Is it another virtual background or is that the real view out the back of N6?

Virtual.

It will probably be a more up-to-date version of what the new news centre at Broadcasting House will look like.

I think it looks quite impressive from some angles, perhaps less so from others such as the shots of the whole studio - the perspective seems a little wrong. I suppose that's just because I'm so used to seeing the small, close up virtual newsroom, whereas this one is vast and quite far away from the set. In general, though, I like it, and it is an improvement from the old one. It seems as if the red band and frosted white sections of the backdrop are actually real, rather than part of the virtual projection. I wonder if these will stay when they use the studio for HardTalk.

I'm also glad they've finally replaced the lights in the desk - the old ones were horribly yellow. It looks much brighter and fresher now, and much more in keeping with News 24.

Shame they haven't bothered to use News 24 style astons, though, but I presume we'll get these eventually...

it looks about as convincing as anna fords wig, so i'd say its computer generated, or at the very least 'computer enhanced'

Its all good but the backing is really a shocker! One big mess really.... especially with those plasmas just behind Anna

it's not perfect no but the set itself is flawed. they want to move those walls with the screens in them up against the back wall. it worked on Liquid but the mirrord don't work on here.

Very Impressive, on the lights it just looks like a change of bulb.
From Dayglow flourescents to Ultra Bright, the sort of ones you may find in fish tanks.
Though I dont know where you can get a bulb that big!
On the Astons I noticed this at the weekend.
If this is an artists impression of the new news centre then its very impressive, though I doubt that this is the case because BBC News could well have a differnt image by then.

For a circular shape like the desk its probably a cold-cathode tube, similar to the ITV News desk. These are custom made items which is probably why ITN's desk was unlit for so long after the last lamp blew.

Maybe noggin could clamber under the desk and find out for us.

And by the way, if you *really* want it you could buy it from me.
