Last night during the BBC World-N24 simulcast I saw Deborah MacKenzie repeating the headlines after the weather forcast. Did she do it just for BBC World or has BBC News24 also adopted this awful new format (Reminder of the main news every half hour and no final sting)?

if it was going out on BBC World it was going out on News 24/BBC One - they are joint bulletins overnight. They may have been doing it as they were rolling through a back half hour with live stuff (earthquake/new year).

Can't speak for the current stuff... but usually after the weather, there's a recap of the first headline which World also take, but then opt out with a symbol and go to recorded programmes.

It also happens with a rather large pause after the "coming up" - again World pres play a symbol and go to adverts/break filler. It's clever, because it allows them a couple of minutes to recap on some UK stories that maybe didn't make it into the World bulletin.

Well, during the overnight simulcasts I was used to seeing at about :25 the presenter signing off very briefly then the final sting, weather forecast, breakfiller, recorded programme.
Last night it was reminder of the main headlines at :25, no sting, weather forecast, breakfiller, another riminder of the main news, no sting, recorded programme, like the new format on BBC World.

Sorry to correct you but there was the generic closing sting at *.25 before the weather forecast and also at *.30 before the news summary. BBC World then opted out after the headlines had been read out without any signoff of Deborah MacKenzie. However threre was a short signoff at *.25. At least it was like that when I watched the 0200 GMT bulletin.

The only sting I saw in the 0100GMT bulletin was before the weather forecast but it was immediately blocked because Deborah was still speaking, and in fact she seemed a little confused.
Anyway, what I would like to know is: have BBC News 24 adopted BBC World's format or do it still have a sign off and no reminder of the main headlines at half hour?

BBC News 24's format has always been different from the format of BBC World. News 24 consists of continous coverage rather than half-hour news bulletins followed by half an hour of business/sports/recorded programmes. Because of that News 24 never had any sign off at the end of a bulletin and therefore never had any closing titles. The only BBC News programme that still has closing titles these days is The World Today.
News 24 never adopted the format of BBC World. You can rather say that BBC World now has adopted a bit of News 24's format. The new news summary at *.30 is something that News 24 has always been doing since its launch. Last year however BBC World's officials thought that it might be a good idea to copy this from News 24.

Oh, I see, thanks.
Being a foreigner I have never seen N24.
