i think this has to be set in some sort of context, i.e she was on a lightish morning show rather than a straight newscast - when i doubt she would have done this.

Yeah - Morning Joe is basically a radio show on tv. In fact, it's the temporary (but possibly soon-to-be-permanent) replacement for Imus.

But, saying that, CNN's anchors have also mocked the story on air - which has actually drawn some criticism.

If she's fired from MSNBC, could she come over here and work on Newsnight with Paxman? They'd make a perfect anchoring pair IMO.

What with this story and the recent editorials by Keith Olberman (such as http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=uqxmPjB0WSs ) MSNBC have made me think that there is some hope for th American news media. If only the rest of the networks questioned things as much

Other than John Humphreys and Paxo I couldn't see any of the BBC or Sky toadies making a stand like that. Laughing

On a side note, does the whole arm of NBC News come under MSNBC. Its just the NBC Nightly News, Today etc sites are on the MSNBC site.

And as for the video - Go Mika!

I think she came across a bit of an idiot to be honest, I mean fine make your point, but setting fire to the script ? In a studio ?

She'd only be good enough for something like Loose Women, not as a serious newscaster.

I think you'll find she's nowhere near being in the same league as Jane MacDonald.

We'll shes hardly presenting a massive news programme, at that time of the morning most people are watching their local news, or Today Show for example.

Looks like a publicity stunt to be honest.

That was a very handily placed shredder, with camera locked on it.

How do you know the camera was locked onto it?

More likely that a camera operator just pointed his camera at it. Certainly if it was planned it would have been framed better!
