More4 News Contract

Interesting. Have ITN released any details on the coverage plans? It was widly rumoured they would have some sort of news programme in the afternoon.

The full news story from Broadcast says that the bulletin will be part of the "evening schedule" and the presenter has yet to be confirmed.

Wonder whose in the frame for presenting it - I assume someone from the current C4 News lot.

This is quite old news - but still no scheduling details.

C4 have said it will feature more in-depth analysis of the main stories than C4 News (I though that was the point of C4 News).

While I think there is space in the market for an afternoon news bulletin (say at 4pm), I think this may be like a "C4 News Extra" type programme airing at 8pm after the main bulletin.

Well the new bit is that the contract with ITN has been signed so it is obviously far further advanced that it was when the idea was first mooted.

well the launch is set for autumn right?

One thing that does concern me about this is that C4N itself could be diminshed. Could C4N be reduced in the long term to 30 minutes and viewers then be persuaded to switch over to M4 for 'more detail'?

C4N is excellent and I sincerley hope that it doesn't suffer.

Inevitable I suppose but it's a pity it'll clash with "The World" on BBC FOUR
