Reading the various articles about this whole row makes me very sad, actually. Moira Stuart is one of the most beautiful and graceful television personalities in my opinion and I'd much rather grace than tart. She certainly is a ''national treasure.'' However, would a comeback on any BBC output really be suitable? After this whole row, which has been highly publicised, surely it would seem odd and awkward for both the audience and Moira, to have her appear again on a news bulletin of some sort. It would look as if she is there only because the BBC felt pressured. I'm just sad the BBC decided to retire her in the first place, as I fear this going to get rather messy.
Love the bit at the end of Extras tonight (repeat) with Moira Stuart being arrested for drug dealing. Just why would the beeb want to get rid of her? They wouldn't get more viewings from bringing someone else in, just loose those who believe in integrity and experience in a newscaster, although I do believe Moira's previous slot on Sunday AM and the Politics show, heck even her Breakfast duties were all a waste of time and tax payers money. I wouldn't want Moira to move back to nationals though (as in 1, 6 or 10) as after her years doing these it would feel like moving back to the past, just like I wouldn't want Huw back on the ten...
And don't the BBC Realise that the audience warm to people with experience. I certainly warm more to older presenters and have no respect or credibility for presenters such as Natasha Kaplinsky who spent vast amounts of money in television presenter-training to get to where she is.

N24 seem to be using new younger inexperienced presenters - nothing much wrong with that but they lack gravitas that can only come with experience and...lots of it. I would suggest the bbc employ moira to teach them in the art of speaking/delivering their pieces in a professional tone. Squeaky voiced ellie who does newsround but has popped up on N24 of late is a perfect example - yes she may be 30 something but i just turn off when i hear her voice - but also presenters who are longer in the tooth are far from perfect at speaking ie Natasha Kaplinsky who I like very much but speaks in a false bygone upperclass english plummy accent and insists everything must have an R in it somewhere ie, Irarq; afgarnistarn.
Personally i don't care who reads the news, but i'd have Natasha Kaplinsky over Moria anyday and I hope they find her a nice slot on BBC World, where I would never see here.

"No! No, Miss Cresswell. That's not quite correct. Now listen, let's try that again. Once more after me:
The Rain in Spain, stays mainly on the Plain................
"
BBC bowing to pressure from senior presenters to reinstate her, now all we need to get these senior presenters to say Kerplunksi needs reduced hours.......
If Moira isn't reinstated, hope whichever three-year-old is running Sky News this week picks up the phone and offers her the 10pm news Monday to Friday
I heard that the lovely Moira is actually working on a number of projects for the BBC - she hasn't been sacked!
We have some excellent female newscasters of a certain age, definitely a cut above the younger ladies (exceptions: Sian Williams and Kate Silverton, from Breakfast, Suzanne Virdee BBC Midlands Today)
Best newscasters (mostly BBC thankfully)
Kay Alexander Midlands Today (in her 50s, been there 30 years the best on the BBC)
Sally Taylor South Today
Sally Magnasson Reporting Scotland (in her 50s now, lovely style)
Fiona Henderson BBC Scotland
Carol Bundock Look East
Anne Davies East Midlands Today (fun, warm style, take note!)
UTV Live at 5.30 from Belfast
Pamela Ballentyne (again, 50-something, lovely lady!)
