I’d still like to hear why the BBC dropped Moira from Sunday AM in the first place. It was only a three minute bulletin she was fully capable of presenting.

I think the point was that paying someone a full time salary to read three minutes wasn't cost effective.

Indeed. The article from the Mail said, I think, that she was BBC staff... are most news presenters not on fixed term contracts??? I'd love to know what pay grade reading a 3 minute bulletin once a week (and not every week at that) entitles you to.

I'm not anti-Moira... I think they should be getting their money out of her... she's perfectly capable of presenting other bulletins. If they are worried over her journalistic abilities, as has been suggested, then send her on a course. She must be a reasonably intelligent woman.

She used to present 3 weekday mornings on Breakfast and do the news summaries on Sunday mornings. She was then downgraded to Sunday mornings and I suppose as a compromise was given the Saturday bulletins.. temporarily!! The BBC obviously want her out and they should just say so straight.

I can't see why they won't use her on the Six or even the Ten, as the secondary presenter, just like she was during the 80s and 90s (admittedly the Six and the Nine, as it was), alongside a principal anchor, being Huw, George, Natasha, Dermot or whomever.

But, I guess these days if the face dont fit, then...........

On the other hand, I am glad this has somewhat backfired on the BBC. I don't think any of us expected such an outpouring of support, to be honest.

Good old Moira! Good for you.

I think Moira would do well on BBC World, or in particular, the Six or the Ten . If she went on a course as someone suggested, she might do well as a replacement for Martha Kearney on Newsnight .

People have already said that in the StoryFix thread and agreed she wouldn't be funny enough - then again how much of it is down to the presenters and how much to the researchers and producers...

Don't be so foolish, boy! Stuart is FAR superior to any of the half-wits that appear on StoryFix!

That comment makes the first sentence of your signature look ironic.

If you think Moira would suit Storyfix, you need to see a doctor, Charlie. Wink Laughing

Maybe she could do the morning and afternoon bulletins on weekdays on BBC1?

The duty One and Six BBC1 presenter who does them now could do an hour on News 24 instead
